The same arguments have been repeated in each of these 3 threads over and over and over and over and over and over and over again

Now somehow, somewhere we are confusing tradition of the song and atmosphere that ALWAYS came with it, as people having inferiority complex about it being changed because of 'you suck'

If the song was used for 5 years and we decided to change it fine, but we're talking 25 years here....people are mad about TRADITION and yes the atmosphere that the song created for all of those years, 'you suck' or not

This **** is just getting silly to keep bringing RRP2 up when it is more than well known that we're moving on from it and that we've moved on from it, mods shouldn't even allow commentary on anything other than song suggestions or discussing song suggestions

So because you're easy to cave and give in on something, every one else should just give up too?

At this point, whatever happens happens

We'll see in a few weeks - we've had a lot of good suggestions from our fans and whether it be RRP2 again or a new one, I'm not too worried it'll be botched up as bad as JBJ again

Maybe you enjoy reading the same things over and over again for 2,000+ posts, but I'm pretty tired of it

Nobody is bringing anything different regarding RRP2 to the table that we haven't already discussed or heard in those 2,000 posts other than in some cases even sillier remarks

Look, if you don't like it then can't you just ignore it and simply focus on the posts providing Song suggestions? :dunno:

This can be solved really simply. Someone make a new thread just for song suggestions and let this be the debate thread. Wingman has a point since there is two different conversations going on in here.

Guess what, Marv?

Then you have to say that the ENTIRE BUILDING full of STH's have an inferiority complex since ALL OF THEM do the "You Suck" chant.

Care to get on the loud-speaker there and inform them of this, then run out of the building real fast before they catch you? :sarcasm:

Not true...I know quite a few who don't chant it.

Again, the same arguments have been repeated in each of these 3 threads over and over and over and over and over and over and over again

The same stuff has been beaten to death, how much more can it be discussed that a majority are unhappy and others are happy with RRP2 departure

I'll be thrilled if RRP2 is actually back, but if it's not oh well life goes on - if that makes me easy to cave in :)laugh::laugh:) then so it be

Look, if you don't like it then can't you just ignore it and simply focus on the posts providing Song suggestions? :dunno:

Seems you've ignored several of my posts in previous threads about suggestions, but ok

People are upset because getting rid of RRP2 completely destroys the awesome atmosphere each goal creates at the rock. We're being force fed garbage and we're not just going to sit around and take it.

Shake your head all you want, we pay good money to go to these games and deserve to voice our opinions.

With all due respect, that's ********. Fans foster and create the atmosphere, it doesn't come from a canned goal song.

the team on the ice creates the atmosphere. if the team is ****, no hockey game will ever be fun. For me at least.

This too...although I can't say I'll be having anywhere near as much fun if we're BOOING every goal song. You guys are making the atmosphere much worse than any of their stupid goal songs are. Even if we do get the song back at this point it's kind of ruined for me right now anyway since it's now become as much a reminder of how ridiculous our own fanbase is as anything else.

Every fan base is ridiculous. It's sports. Fan is short for fanatics. People are just fanatical about different things. I'm not going to knock any type of fan I can't relate to.

My girlfriend thinks we're all nerds for posting here and talking about the Devils. Thinks it's a waste of time and doesn't understand it.

She can't relate. Try and understand people can be passionate about different things.

Besides, where else can a discussion about the Goal Song be done? Because this song was around for 25 years, and was abruptly changed, OF COURSE there's going to be debate again and again and again.
That's just it. The 25 year old song didn't change abruptly. It changed 5 years ago. And perhaps team management has tolerated it for that long. After all, they have tried to recommend around it before. This isn't necessarily the first time there's been discussion of this among team management.

And with some exceptions (knocking NYR out in the ECF where it would be warranted, for example), fans like me have tolerated it too.

Now, the team has stated its intentions to distance themselves from it, and people want to strong-arm them for it.

What's baffling is that we'd be laughing our ***** off at those guys across the river were defending such a ridiculous cause with such vigor. Is this REALLY the best we can do as fans?

Don't misunderstand me...I'm fine with all the write-in protests, voting for the song, calling reps, even chanting 'you suck' at random parts of the game if you want to make a point. There are plenty of ways to make your voice heard and I'd be proud of the fanbase if that's all it was.

Actively BOOING (and advocating people booing) a different goalsong is where you guys really lose me though. To me that's where the fanbase crosses the line from being passionate to being idiots. I understood it to a degree the first night when they surprised the crowd but after that it's ridiculous.

It's called capitalism. If customer X doesn't like what business A is doing/providing, customer X threatens not to financially support business A.

Paying customers have every right to complain.

Completely agree. Booing after a goal is something I'll never understand. I can understand chanting after play resumes again, but booing immediately after a goal is idiocy.

If people are really stuffing the ballot box with RRPt2 then that's probably going to tick them off even more which is hilarious because what the hell did they think was going to happen?

Given the clear change in tone from ticket reps over the past 2 days as this controversy has raged on, I sincerely disagree with your saying it's a lost cause.

This team can't afford to lose money. With the reality that they may be losing more fans with the departure of the goal song, ownership will have no choice but to reconsider their hasty and foolish decision.

Before today I would have agreed with you but it seems like this is already reaching a critical mass where 'someone' will have to realize soon that x+100000 protests (pro goal song) are infinitely greater than x protests (anti goal song). And if it doesn't it will after Saturday, presuming we actually score a goal in that game and everyone gets embarassed with what happens after.

I didn't even think Devil fans would go as far as they have. Not so much the protests but with the scorched earth nonsense. But hey if you don't mind making a joke of the fanbase to get your goal song back well congratulations when you do get it back. Either way it's going to be a phyrric victory at this point, either the fans will win the goal song and make a complete joke of themselves in the process, or the team will win and see fans desert in droves and our home-ice of the last couple years dissappear.

I'm just tired of everyone's behavior in this...it's completely like politics with the team being the Tea Party and the fans being the nutball portion of the left wing.

If the Devils go back on the decision, theyre gonna have major egg on their faces after saying that they changed to song to stop the offensive chants. it will be an admission that they are allowing what they consider offensive chants due to fan pressure. I dont agree with them, but I cant see them going back on it

Can I also say that fans that stop supporting the team because they change the goal song is pretty idiotic as well?

I will still happily watch and support my team from the comforts of my own home. Times are tough and money's tight. I don't have to give what little dispensable income I have to an owner unwilling to listen to a dominant majority of his customer base.

No one was booing the goal opening night either. No one. The place went nuts and then erupted with boos when the song came on. Rinse and repeat.

Fans will likely cheer the goal and boo the song.

No one is booing a Devils goal.

Better egg on their face than a fractured fanbase.

If they thought there were protests before to get rid of the song, their eyes are being forced open as to how many there are now to keep the song. Eventually you can't annoy almost the entire fanbase...especially when you have on-ice issues as it is. This was so much the wrong time for the organization to pick this fight it's laughable.

You mean "Song" suggestions?

If that's what you mean, how would you know I did? I usually play the song being suggested and make my own determination on if it's great to use or not. But I don't always make a post about it.

If you meant something else, I didn't notice.

This too...the fact that fans won't cancel over a lockout or increasing prices but are threatening to cancel over a thirty-second song would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.

Yeah wow cheer the goal for a whole ten seconds and then boo for a minute...that's really intimidating. It's a disgrace, no matter how you want to color it.
