I think its more along the lines nobody has interest in working with this core.

Cant blame Treliving when nobody is interested in coming short of an overpayment.

When you’ve got a guy like ROR expressing himself the way he has, red flags can go up across the league.

Likely means Domi out in Dallas. Still hoping for a Bertuzzi signing. He has been my plan A this entire time. If they lose out on him, I can't wait to see Bailey playing 1st line LW.

Looks like it’s Bertuzzi for us, and if that fails Domi. We’ve been linked to both. I don’t envision a world where we don’t get bent over a barrel in a Bertuzzi contract though.

I really wanted the Leafs to try to get him signed.

Can't blame him though. See's our players give lackluster effort on the ice, sees the dysfunctional front office.
Taxes, weather, family (kids) all use to the American way of life (school especially). Lower prices for almost everything. Not being bothered by fans off the ice. etc etc etc

Not just American players that prefer not to play in Canada. Plenty of Canadian players prefer not to as well.

Our lack of any sort of plan, is super obvious.

We have greedy players angling and holding us hostage to get every buck - while real teams are adding quality players and growing their team.

Normally I would agree, but these contracts being given out today for forwards have been extremely cheap for the most part.

ROR 4.5, Pacioretty 2 mil, Duchene 3 mil, JVR 1 mil, Wheeler 800k.

Meanwhile we're giving Kampf 2.3 and signing 36 year old Ryan Reaves to 3 year contracts worth 1.3 annually

Toronto simply becomes a short-term opportunity for players among the annual reshuffling of deck chairs of depth players that come in to help bump their next contract potential earnings and Leafs can't afford to keep them anyways.

This isn't a bad thing. Great teams get short term interest all the time. But where are the next ones? Where is the next Bunting or Mikheyev or Kase or Samsonov or anyone else who wants to come short term and build up their value? That's a win for the player and team.

Instead we're signing replaceable players to 3 and 4 year deals.

You think it's that simple, you can only do so much, if a player doesn't want to sign here or doesn't have any interest in signing here what can you do?

Toronto isn't a place for everyone when it comes to hockey.
