Speculation: Nemec not happy with the Devils?

People can argue over value or whatever they want, the biggest problem with this deal is the Devils aren't going to help the Rangers with their rebuild. It's just not going to happen.

Sure the Rangers wouldn't mind risking helping the Devils win a Cup especially if you can convince them the missing piece is a player that disappears in big games, but the Devils won't risk it by sending their 2 best trade chips to their biggest rival.
As I said, maybe a pick for Zac Jones (no one gets hurt) but that's about as far as it goes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sharks help the Devils figure out this situation. They’ll need an RHD next year and are looking for a long term option there so any of the guys the Devils would make available would be useful to the Sharks.

I kinda doubt the CBJ would turn around and get in the Jiricek situation again, but would Sillinger for Nemec be a good starting point? Around the same age, both early firsts. I dunno, just spitballin.

Problem is that the devils need an rhd for next year lol.

Until they actually extend kovacevic, or Casey clearly passes nemec (Casey has been hurt for a while now), nemec appears to have an everyday spot in the lineup next year

If they don’t extend Kovacevic, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sharks were in on him at free agency. He’d be a fit like he would on a lot of teams so I’d be surprised if the Devils didn’t extend him and make either Hamilton or Nemec available.

I still believe he has a lot of value. I think New Jersey should just trade him to a team that's selling at the deadline for something to help The Devils with their playoff run.

I say 1st 2025 and Simon Nemec for Brandon Saad.
i would do it.

too bad we have traded our 25 1st in the markstrom trade. saadly we must decline.

I’d imagine the asking would be a top 3 prospect, obviously not Demidov but one of the next best 2.
the devils don't trade nemec for futures.

either they get top6 help for this and the next 2/3 seasons or they will hold on to nemec.

Andersson plus their 1st back.

Reunite Andersson with Markstrom, and the Devils get help now.
if we had a need for rhd, nemec would play in the nhl in there was no thread.

Saad + 1st for nemec? Guessing there would be other picks/farm players from each team involved but just as a foundation for the deal....

Has nemec really fallen off that much? Loved him in his Draft year and D+1.
I imagine the blues plan on using their 1st on another D available(despite jiricek last year), may as well get one further ahead in their pro readiness and most likely higher end at the expense of a depth forward they won't have in the steen era when this team should really be coming together into a contender in 2027

Nemec hasn't fallen much at all which is why 95% of this whole thread makes no sense. People are acting like Nemec is entering bust territory because he didn't make the team this year. In actuality he's a 20 year old dman who played a phenomenal rookie season. The ONLY reason he didn't make this year's roster was because he started off the season with an injury which affected his ability to play. We also are stacked on defense and we have team control over him so we sent him down. Early on in the ahl he struggled because again he was playing injured. Now that he's healed up he's tearing up the AHL. The only reason he isn't on NJ's roster is because we haven't had injuries to any players to call him up & none of our dmen have played bad enough to warrant a benching. That's all this is. People thinking his value has dropped like crazy are living under a rock. He's a 20 year old dman. He's an actual child with nhl success and ahl success. One injury doesn't derail a players value especially when they healed from the injury.

...if Jersey is seriously in on Miller, Nemec has to be going the other way...
I think Fitz has many pokers in the fire. But I dint think he gives up Nemec om a Miller trade. I'm not saying they can't get hom it's just not a sound plan for NJ. He's the exact type of player needed but A. The term/age/$ does not work for NJs timeline. B. JTM apparently ain't great in the locker room (Fitz went out of his way to ACTUALLY say "no dickheads in the room". If Hamilton has any chance of being moved this summer it's dumb to move Nemec.

...agreed if they can move Hamilton...problem is how??...

I think they can move Hamilton pretty easily. Just depends on what they want in return. If all they want is cap space, San Jose would take him for a pick if approved and off waivers if it came to that. Other teams on his list might want to have NJ retain or take back cap. They may pay value or give them the top six help they may be looking for but it’s not guaranteed even with him being largely worth his contract relative to his role.

July 1 his full nmc is modified to 10 teams he can be traded to
Also his bonus of$10.1M is paid, leaving about $1M in actually dollars to be paid out. Cap Hit is still $9M so so e retention is probably needed.

It all depends on what Devs do in the playoffs. Current play would say nothing! But thi gs to be considered. Also if Kovacevic wants a bag in FA we may have to let him walk, which opens up a spot

It will not be an easy task to move Hamilton with his 10 teams list. He can literally put together 10 teams that cannot afford him or just do not need him at all. I agree that retention would be needed. Hamilton at 6M is a totally different story for acquiring team, for sure.
