Speculation: Nemec not happy with the Devils?

I don’t think he’s necessarily wrong in that the devils were probably hoping Nemec would be ready now for their contender window. Trading him for down the roads picks or prospects is like the opposite of the Meier trade.
He was penciled on the roster to come into the season. Unfortunately for him, he got injured to start the season and was never right when he got back. Only the last few weeks has his play picked up in the AHL and the guy that replaced him has continued to play very well.

Just a victim of circumstance - where Nemec fits moving forward hasn’t changed.

Neutral fan. Have kept a close eye on Nemec because I owned him in a dynasty league ('owned' being the operative word.

Was a huge fan of Nemec in his D-1 and draft year. Had minimal viewing since, but caught some games at the end of last season and liked what I was seeing. Traded for him in the offseason assuming he'd have a shot in a top 4 role.

Obviously Devils sign Pesce and acquire Kovacevic and Nemec couldn't win a spot, gets sent down to work on his game.

Most concerning thing for me is just by Utica Comets highlight, Nemec seems to have many more low-lights than highlights of his own, without even looking for it. I'm sure the coaching staff wanted him to focus on his D game, and it's clear he hasn't improved there. Some more red flags with his skating, lack of physicality or any physical tools to really separate him. His offensive IQ is his best trait

Most concerning thing for a guy like that is that if you're not going to be defensively responsible you're not going to win a NHL coach's trust. He's trending in the wrong direction and I think it's more likely he ends up in bust territory than a top-pairing guy. I think right now at best you need to hope for is him committing to the D game which is not impossible if his effort is there, and maybe that comes after a change of scenery. Then I could see him in a top 4 role, but I wouldn't count on it. His skating will really hold him back.

Would be happy to eat crow if I'm wrong. But big buyer beware here IMO. I'd bet most fans will be surprised at the relative lack of value he'll hold in a trade.

Just a bit of reality....

Whatever the Devil fans (or any fan of any team) think he's worth will get thrown out a 100 story window the moment Nemec is unhappy and wants to be traded.

The next reality...is he improving in the AHL? Don't assume he is. I'm not saying he isn't, but progression is never a straight line so don't assume he is...or he's not.

how about taking a minute to look and see if he's improving?

Glad to see folks here coming to grips with the fact it was kinda ridiculous to think hed be the centerpiece of a hypothetically b tkachuk trade.

If he were moved today he probably gets moved in a hockey trade with another underperforming player. Think like a poor mans middlestadt in return
Trolling is as bad as your team

He didn't say he wanted out and 10 pts in last 5 games in Utica. Holes in your post

Adam Jiricek (16th overall RHD in 24 draft), Brandon Saad with 50% retention, and 2026 1st from the Blues for Nemec.

Got to give to get and he’s pals with Divorsky. Fits the timeline of a Blues core just now starting to come into the league (Snuggerud, Divorsky, Stenberg, Lindstein).

2 1sts and a useful veteran winger with cup pedigree is good for a win now team. Jiricek fits their timeline if they re-sign Kovasevic.

Go watch the highlights of the games with his points, and others. Many of those points won't be points in the NHL and many of the chances/goals against his team come with him on the ice.
