Forever connected as both were traded for Rantanen within a short time frame. Using whatever metrics you so choose, which would you prefer? As of the time I am posting this both players have been excellent in the 2026 playoffs.

It's obviously Necas but I don't think it's fair to Stankoven because it's not like he was the only piece in the deal.

He's also 4 years younger. We're comparing a 23 year old Stankoven to a 27 year old Necas. At the same age Necas had 40 pts. He took off the next season with 71.

Obviously I don't expect Stankoven to be a 100 pt player but he will close the gap a lost over the next few years. I wouldn't be shocked if he was close to 40 goals and 80 pts when he's Necas' age. Obviously Necas has the size and skating / tools but Stankoven while undersized has proven a lot already in the playoffs. He's gritty and he's still effective.

Basically I still say Necas but this is a completely unfair poll given their ages and point in their careers

If I have to choose with taking

stank @ 8 years x 6m as a 23 year old
Or
Necas @ 8 years x 11.5m as a 27 year old

I really consider stank because I think he is gonna improve a solid amount nd you've got him locked up from 23-30 on what could become one of the best contracts in hockey. Really depends on which team id be taking the player for.

Why is this even a poll? Of course its Necas, who hit 100 points as in his prime. Stackoven still has upside to improve on what he is now, but these are different caliber players at different periods of their careers. The trades were structured very differently so I don't understand the 1 for 1 comparison.
