[NE/DAL] Joe Milton

So instead of trading a couple late picks for a promising young QB with 3 years left on his rookie deal, the Raiders traded a 3rd round pick for a declining 35 year old QB who's never even been real good and they plan to extend him for $50m/year. I have no idea what Spytek is doing with this team. Trading for Geno indicates that he thinks they can contend now(they won't) but then he signs basically no one in free agency despite having plenty of cap space and the defence at least on paper is now worse than last year.

Spytek was in TB last season so I’m sure the Bucs scouted him a bit. Or at least considered the QB draft as Trask was at the end of his rookie deal (going into his final season with TB last year).
LV did not want to go with someone unproven. Can’t say I blame following Jimmy and Minschew the past 2 years.

Nothing about Joe Milton is promising. The man can't play football at this level no matter how talented he is. He couldn't run the Heupel offense, which is about as many training wheels as you can put on an FBS scheme.

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather watch Joe Milton than someone like Kenny Pickett. At least he'll do something bananas every once in a while. But there's never been a moment in time where he had any chance.

Raiders should get a QB in this draft, Geno is stability for now

QBs this draft I would not draft til day 3. If you draft one in rd 1/2, you have to have a plan to get the kid into the field by year 2. If you aren’t going to invest the time in his development then no point in drafting him.

Geno's definitely proven.....a proven loser.

There's only two worth drafting and they're likely both gone before the Raiders pick. Geno might bring some stability but don't see the Raiders as having any chance at making playoffs.

Right now that is what LV (Davis and Brady) want. Get some stability.

What's stability though? 6-7 wins for the next year couple years. And if they want to actually compete why didn't they sign a WR or a decent RB in free agency. The team has holes everywhere and seems to have no direction.

Plus, Davis is a fool and Brady only listens to his mentor/personal trainer/spiritual advisor/publicist/everything who was convicted of selling fake medicine to cancer patients. They inspire no confidence whatsoever.

Yeah, I've already seen talking heads question why the Patriots would trade him away to essentially move up one round on late day 3.

Seriously, why do you think the team that saw him play all season was perfectly fine throwing him away for a very minor upgrade in draft capital? Could it perhaps be because he still sucks?

It’s a new coaching staff in NE. So they have no idea how Milton practices or is in the film room. I don’t recall NE adding a veteran backup for Maye. I can understand Vrabel preferring a vet over a 2nd year QB as the backup.

they brought in Josh Dobbs
Ok. Vrabel knows Dobbs. Smart guy. Believes in him to help Maye in the film room. Milton was going to be QB3. So, for Vrabel would he want to carry Milton as QB3 on the main roster or hope that he could slide him to the PS and risk him getting claimed. Guess they opted that they’d rather have that spot for another position on the main roster.
