Some of the rumors that came out of Athens after he left were pretty brutal, including punching a team captain and ditching spring practices to go to Mexico. He was putting some feelers out to Georgia on social media when he first entered the portal, but they didn't even invite him for a visit.

Sounds like a couple B1G teams are trying to get Ewers to stay another year and pay him a lot of money. My guess would be Oregon and OSU

I can’t see Oregon doing that. They got the kid they took from UCLA that is the heir apparent next year. Everyone is raving about him. Seeing as they have lived in the qb portal recently, would be a bad look to recruiting qbs

I'm glad they're probably going to split the two major awards given how far they've separated themselves from the field.

I did enjoy everyone rediscovering that a G5 player hadn't won the Maxwell since Ty Detmer because they gave both trophies to Geno Toretta for existing on an impossibly talented Miami team instead of Marshall Faulk turning water into 6 yards per carry.
Geno Toretta.... the definition of a system QB.

Hugh would have been better off letting Arnold reunite with Lebby and then taking Michael Van Buren from MS State. Hugh's offense is not going to work without a QB who can at least run a little off script. Arnold hasn't done anything to warrant hanging his job on the line with him.

I don’t know I don’t really pay attention to Mississippi State football to know the scuttlebutt. But I wonder if Van Buren was looking to just transfer up to a bigger school regardless? He was on the recruiting radar at an early age & his stock dropped through the process. Oregon dumped him late his senior year & he scrambled to Mississippi State as there weren’t many QB spots open at that point.

He’s not a #1 but probably similar to Harrison Wallace in overall effectiveness that he’s got a pulse.

They’re probably gonna have to create a #1 in the aggregate. Frankly there’s not many proven ones in the portal & the few that are aren’t looking their way.

Been rumored on message boards he was going to enter for days now & Penn State is probably the favorite to land him. His former WR coach is now Penn State’s WR coach.
