Other Sports: NCAA Thread v12

This is a dumb question I know but could Ewers have flung that out toward a receiver for an incompletion? Bizarre play

Wasn't sure since it went backwards behind the line of scrimmage

Is ASU always this ass? College football really is something
Not really, but it' an indictment on the differences between conferences top to bottom. I don't even think Texas is elite, but they have a clear talent and size advantage.

They’ve been up & down probably the last decade or so. But if they make a good hire like it appears they did with Kenny Dillingham they have potential to push into the top 25.

But Texas is just a different level of recruiting compared to them. You can count on your hand the teams that can out recruit Texas or be on the same level (Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, & maybe now Oregon) & Arizona State isn’t one of them.

I believe the priority was avoiding a 3rd game between teams, not the 2nd. So Georgia and Texas were on opposite sides of the bracket for example.
It would be pretty wild to get UGA/Texas for a third time, as well as a second time in Atlanta. I'm guessing the latter scenario has never happened before.

They agree to the format when we had a true P5. So if the Big Ten & SEC didn’t raid the other conferences of their big brands. You would have had Oregon (PAC-12), Georgia (SEC), Texas (Big 12), & Ohio State (Big Ten) as the four byes or something like that. So it would have alleviated some of the unbalance.

At this point though I think you have to definitely go the top four teams in the standings should get the byes regardless of conference winners. You can still give the winners a spot in the playoffs but it shouldn’t get you a bye too like it did Arizona State & Boise State.

They're doing away with the byes for conference winners next year, right?

Who's wasting all that money on Ewers?

It’s a playoff format. So it’s kind of hard to avoid. Most of the best teams in the country come from the SEC & Big Ten.

Sorry, this was in reference to Colorado and BYU playing the other night. I get the playoffs, but the random bowl game threw me off
