I don't get this trade at all from the Mavs side. This is a steal for the Lakers

Agreed because of age. The dumb Hawks also traded Luka for Trae Young.

Is Luka, MacKinnon level? I feel like he's a top 5 player in the NBA.

Pretty much equivalent. 2nd best player in their respective leagues at a young age.

This is like the Avs trading MacKinnon for Tavares.

I changed my post by the way. MacKinnon is too good to disregard like that. They are pretty equal in talent.

I'm struggling to find an Anthony Davis comparison. He's 32 but still in his prime. Right now I mentioned Tavares but AD is better than Tavares. My other thought was Kucherov because of age, but Kucherov is better than Davis. So maybe someone between those two guys.

Probably a good comparison. Anthony Davis is a tremendous player but is starting to hit the part of his career where hes falling from his peak. Whereas Luka is at his peak and may be there for at least 3-5 more years, similar to MacKinnon.

Even if it's true, so what. That was years ago, he's a top 5 player, fellow top 5 player Jokic always comes into training camp fat and sloppy, and Denver would never trade him for AD.

I'd make the trade too if I'm the lakers but it appears to be an ongoing problem. Interesting video here looks at it from both sides. The Mavs know more than we do so who knows. Will b a fun game to watch when they play each other Feb 25.
