Value of: Nazem Kadri

Huberdeau is still unmovable despite is resurgence. Weegar probably won't get moved because he does everything.

They will build around Wolf 100%, but of that list Kadri would be the one that could be moved, but ball is in his court. Apparently Colorado asked about him at the deadline and he refused to waive. I think that's because he doesn't want to uproot his family again, and Calgary was in a wild card race at the time. But now they sit 6 points out (with games in hand though) and with a couple more tough opponents coming up. If Calgary gets knocked out of the race in the next couple games I could see him being open to a move this summer. Not sure where he would actually waive though, maybe back to Toronto and that's about it.

Source?

There needs to be some clarification. Kadri wasnt asked to waive, Conroy didnt bother even asking. Kadri has told the Flames he is happy where he is and as long as the Flames are competitive he has no desire to go anywhere else. The rumor is that he might waive for Toronto depending on the circumstances, otherwise hes staying put. The Avs asked before the Nelson trade and were told it wasnt happening. After the Markstrom fiasco last deadline, Conroy is keeping things are lot more locked down.

1 year later and Seth Jones was just traded for a 1st and Spencer Knight, crazy what the cap going up does 😂😂😂😂
Sorry but it's not apples to apples
Jones is 30 with 5 years left on contract - 35 at endof deal.
Kadri is 34 with 4 years left on contract - 39 at end of deal

So… a poster on a message board.

Yeah, no.

More likely what @Zirakzigil posted. Calgary weren’t interested in moving him, period.

I highly doubt Kadri would’ve rejected a return to Denver where he had the most success of his career and his wife loved living there.
I literally used the word apparently. Why are you complaining about the source? Believe whatever you want

There were 3 different people with connections to the Flames that reported it. One mentioned the current state of the US as a possible reason the Avs were not a consideration. But that was their opinion and not a known fact. Kadri had been very clear since day 1 of training camp he had no desire to move and wanted to be part of the solution in Calgary.

Are the flames rebuilding? I like what Conny has doing, team is playing the right way and hungry. Making the most of what they are with support from Wolf.

They have a number of young guys to get into the lineup... but that core of Hub/backlund/kardi/Andersson/weegar, seems pretty ingrained.

Worth more to keep him, then move. They don't really need picks, and no ones giving them a younger C for an old guy with that much left.

Don't know. As long as a player is playing well and wants to be in Calgary, why ruin that. Hard to get guys who really want to be there.

Calgary has been pretty clear in their goals from the start, it’s mostly fan speculation trying to make it murky. Re-tool not rebuild, move out players who don’t want to be here, while targeting young players worth taking a bet on. They’ve added Sharangovich, Bahl, Frost, Farabee etc. seeing if they’ll grow with the team, and in the draft have targeted highly productive players with question marks hoping a couple of them have their production translate. They’ve culture they’ve built is apparent on the ice, and they really aren’t likely to jeopardize it by trading away players who do want to be here. Rumor has it they’re now looking to add, if you believe our beat reporter they were going to pursue Rantanen aggressively if he made it to free agency.

Conroy’s plan appears to be working to a tee. They’re fighting hard for the playoffs, with the second most cap space in the league, roughly a top 10 prospect pool, and 4 1sts in the next 2 drafts to add to it.

Yeah but Jones’ AAV is 2.5M more. If the Flames took 1.5M off Kadris deal I’d rather have Kadri at 5.5M than Jones at 7M. Or Kadri at 7 over Jones at 9.5 had the Hawks been unwilling to retain.

Its not even fan speculation. Its fans complaining. Conroy has been very clear on what they are doing and has stuck to it.

Eh. He totally set them up to be a bottom 10 team this year but between Wolf killing it and the rag tag dcore playing above expectations they are going to fall just outside of playoffs. If Vladar ended up getting the majority of the starts they would have been in the bottom ten.

I don’t know. He could be concerned about the political climate in the US in general right now.
I don't get the big scary bootyman claims. Kadri is affluent and there are no mostly peaceful riots going on, unless he drives the wrong kind of car.

The only climate that would matter is snow tires or not.
