Completely different stratosphere of coaching, as old as they are now.Martinez has to be really bad for you to get excited about Jorge Jesus or Mourinho in 2025.
The portugese roster is insane.Great news.
Reports out of Portugal indicate unless Martinez wins Nations League he's gone. Considering the last time we beat Germany was when Sergio Conceicao scored a hattrick in Euro 2000 vs them...I'm not holding my breath. Playing Germany, whose always owned us the previous 2 decades, in Germany, doesn't bode well.
Jorge Jesus or Mourinho ready to take over.
Yes this isn't the Jorge Jesus from 2009-2020 for Benfica/Flamengo etc, or Mourinho in his prime...but both are massive upgrades and would give us a real chance to take advantage of our talent right now and challenge for the World Cup...hard say if we'll have a better squad than this in 4 years.
Well maybe...we won the U17 euros last week beating France in the final (first time we EVER beat them at this age group). Great team with some great talents to add to Rodrigo Mora and Quenda.
Hopefully they continue to improve.
The portugese roster is insane.
Best LB in the game, talented young RB (Santos), uber talented CBs (Diaz, Silva, Araujo), Costa in goal, Vitinha at 6 (plus Palhinha), Neves at 8, Bruno at 10, then a forward line among Ramos, Leao, Jota, Neto and a guy like Mora.
If only they could hire a competent coach and get rid of Ronaldo, they'd be favourites every tournament.
I think on paper, only France has a better roster.
England has glaring holes (CB, gk). Portugal doesn't.On paper, you can make a case for any of europe's top 5. The English & Portuguese have underperformed their talent, but on paper they're both right there.
And Portugal doesn’t have the same kind of strength in attack that the English do…at least not yet, we’ll see what their kids become.England has glaring holes (CB, gk). Portugal doesn't.
Naggelsman hard to look at with that stach.
Neto with. Golden chance should’ve layed it back to Ronaldo
Portugal does have some damn good fowards. England has no decent goalie, nor decent CBs.And Portugal doesn’t have the same kind of strength in attack that the English do…at least not yet, we’ll see what their kids become.
The one playing right back and the one on the bench?and their two young midfielders are already among the best.
No way. Thought that “foul” Portugal was crying about was no where near a problem eitherThat should be called back. Looked offside
I’d like to see it again but he looked offside and interfered with Dias.No way. I’ll tell you what I think we could do a lot worse than signing Woltemade for striker
Even though Nagelsmann is playing him as number 9, probably because of his size, from my viewings of him in Stuttgrt he's more of a second striker in the Firmino mold, so he'd fit right in.I’ll tell you what I think we could do a lot worse than signing Woltemade for striker
It was also Conceicao actually doing something, coming in for the invisible (today) Trincao.Bad subs from Nagelsmann and Portugal makes them pay immediately. Germany are in trouble, their bench is much weaker.
Oh trincao was very visible in losing the ball for Germanys first goal.It was also Conceicao actually doing something, coming in for the invisible (today) Trincao.
