Nathan Mackinnon's legacy is at a pivotal point

Simply can't afford Kucherov to overtake him? Alright then.

I would imagine it's much more important for Nate what happens in the playoffs. He is already taking the foot off the gas a bit, the Avs have very little to play for until the playoffs roll around.

Yeah considering they're annually 2nd round losers or worse he's got a lot to prove they aren't one hit wonders along with no scoring title.

This next month means a lot to how people will perceive Nathan Mackinnon in the future. He is currently tied with Kucherov in the Art Ross race. However, he led by double digits a week ago. He simply can't allow Kucherov to overtake him for the second year in a row.
Yes... yes, he can. And if he does, this planet we live on will just keep on turning.
In the present moment, there seems to be a "Big 4" of the 2020s. Connor McDavid, Nikita Kucherov, Leon Draisaitl, and Nathan Mackinnon. However, future generations might not see it this way if Nate doesn't win an Art Ross. It will only be the "Big 3", leaving him out of it. He has to focus and rack up as many points as possible in the regular season, his legacy depends on it.
No.... No, it doesn't.

Kuch will comeback and demolish Duekinnon anyways. Terrible performance tonight but still confident in him reaching 130 with only a couple games left

There’s always gonna people with narratives, when looking back. Stanley cups matter most to me. Followed by stats, mackinnon has both. I’d love to see more team success.

17 minutes tonight 3 pts. Not his worst night.

MacKinnons legacy is already beyond saving

-sandbagged his ELC to sign a cap-circumventing deal
-had Indonesian rainforest slashed to grow chickpeas
-won a scoring title with nothing but empty net points
-was awarded a Cup by referees that really belonged to the Blues (who had 9x 20-goal scorers that year btw)
-won MVP at a tournament that destabilized geopolitics and forced Trudeau to resign

There are very few true villains in the history of this sport, but Nathan Raymond MacKinnon is among the worst

lol wut.

No one really cares about these rewards. It's about cups. His legacy is cemented already.

Winning back to back major awards in the McDavid Era would definitely move the needle in a significant way in MacKinnon’s all-time ranking.

If he wins another Hart, Art Ross, or Ted Lindsay this season and doesn’t fall off a cliff for the rest of his career, he will likely surpass Joe Sakic as the greatest Avalanche player in history of the franchise

Haters gonna hate. Nate Dogg dropping his big balls on everyones shoulders. The Avs havent had anything to play for since the trade deadline. Coasting into the playoffs taking it easy waiting for our prince charming to come back.

What? MacKinnon’s legacy is already cemented; he has a Cup and a 50-goal, 140 point season.

You already know what the storylines going into 2025-26 are going to be: “McDavid no longer the best player in hockey?” “McDavid not as generational as we thought?” etc.

Imagine if Makar outscores McDavid.

This is a joke. Unlike the 2 from EDM, he's actually won a cup as the best player on the team. He's a perennial MVP candidate. His legacy is locked up and he'll only add to it if he wins additional cups.

Mack didn't win the cup as the best player on the team. Makar took home the Smythe and there really was no debate about it.

What you've been saying are things I would only really expect to read from a non-Avs fan if we're being honest.
I dunno. When I watch an Avalanche game more often than not Makar is the standout. With Nate it's the offense and points, but whit Cale it's the all-around play at both ends, nobody in the league can really match it.

We did these polls on the Avs board from time to time and people rather picked Makar. Was a while ago though.

I mean you clearly just have a personal problem with MacKinnon or something lol. Bizarre. We can end this conversation here - I know I'd prefer to.
