Why do they need to go back to hamilton at all? You're pretty much just burning a callup for no reason. Even if Murray and Bouillon are benched for the playoffs, if an injury occurs, I'm really glad I have beaulieu there. They won't be able to claim it as an emergency call-up, since they'll have other people to fill in. So we'll be ****ed into playing ****** defensemen.
They also just burnt another call-up in blunden.
Love it...
We already know what he CAN'T do.
This whole D situation has been mismanaged from the get go.
Both Tinner and Bollie have demonstrated that rookie tendency to take two steps foward and one step back. Which is good healthy progression for a DMan. The math and their play should have had them both playing as regulars by mid season. The club would have been able to use them post season with confidence. I'd still play them now but that's probably just me. I don't think management will consider it and have obviously painted themselves into a corner.
But heck there's always Blunden![]()

The 4 call up limit was eliminated in the current CBA so I don't think there's anything to burn here. He is still eligible for call up but the team has 8 healthy defenseman right now.
Nathan would have been useful against speedy TB. Against them you have to have a quick transition. Murray, weaver and Tinordi do not provide that.
On the one hand it's probably best long term as long as he doesn't totally lose it. More AHL time won't hurt him. On the other hand it doesn't help the team now and either everyone outside the team is lost or Therrien just doesn't get it.
I would like to see Galchenyuk do a Maxpac, though, and spend a few months with Hamilton as first line center playing 20 odd minutes a night next year. Call it a "conditioning stint" or whatever, but I think it would bring up his game. Then again just solidifying his body for a year or two may do the same. He's on track, no problems, but I suspect the dominating the AHL would speed his development more than easing into the NHL.
Beaulieu is a mess defensively.
Watch him in his own zone, his positioning and movement without the puck is god awfull.

Lol what.. Do you watch with your eyes closed?
Explain to me the logic in sending Gal down to play center only to have him play wing when he gets called up?Galchenyuk in Hamilton for 20 games would help him hone his offensive skills.
Agreed.

This makes no seonse. But I do agree with the idea that he should be playing center now.
Who isn't a mess defensively now?..
Even our Norris winner looks like a twit right now. It's just bad overall. Our structure is, let's not have a structure. So it's bad defensively no matter who's there. It's just bad.
Interesting how some people think that:
MT
MB
& all assistant coaches
& all ex-NHLer advisers in management
& Dudley
& whatever other pro NHL consultants
... don't know what they are doing.
Just maybe they all have a little more inside info on Nathan Beaulieu and his case than the general public.
Beaulieu will survive.

This is the main point. Playoffs upon us and we aren't playing this guy already? Just doesn't make any sense. Should've been in the lineup and playing a regular shift at least five games ago.It was? Then I'm probably complaining for nothing then. Sort of.
We do have 8 healthy D, 4 of which Beaulieu has outplayed pretty consistently.
He's looked really good. Put him with Subban and bust out the popcorn.I'd take Beaulieu in the lineup any day over MT's little buddy Bouillon. In the 17 games Beaulieu played he certainly didn't look out of place and he was a +6. At least Beaulieu with his smooth skating and speed can skate the puck out of his zone and into the opponents zone with ease which is something that's lacking on the Habs D..
