Recalled/Assigned: Nathan Beaulieu sent down

This is sad. Beaulieu would be so useful against TB.
Poor management.

Why do they need to go back to hamilton at all? You're pretty much just burning a callup for no reason. Even if Murray and Bouillon are benched for the playoffs, if an injury occurs, I'm really glad I have beaulieu there. They won't be able to claim it as an emergency call-up, since they'll have other people to fill in. So we'll be ****ed into playing ****** defensemen.

They also just burnt another call-up in blunden.

Love it...
We already know what he CAN'T do.

This whole D situation has been mismanaged from the get go.
Both Tinner and Bollie have demonstrated that rookie tendency to take two steps foward and one step back. Which is good healthy progression for a DMan. The math and their play should have had them both playing as regulars by mid season. The club would have been able to use them post season with confidence. I'd still play them now but that's probably just me. I don't think management will consider it and have obviously painted themselves into a corner.
But heck there's always Blunden :handclap:

Absolutely and this is what I was saying earlier in the season. Let the kids play! At the time we were using Bouillion and Murray...we had everything to gain. Really annoys me. Both players have improved..there's no telling how much better they'd be if they played mrore.

The 4 call up limit was eliminated in the current CBA so I don't think there's anything to burn here. He is still eligible for call up but the team has 8 healthy defenseman right now.

Nathan would have been useful against speedy TB. Against them you have to have a quick transition. Murray, weaver and Tinordi do not provide that.

On the one hand it's probably best long term as long as he doesn't totally lose it. More AHL time won't hurt him. On the other hand it doesn't help the team now and either everyone outside the team is lost or Therrien just doesn't get it.

I would like to see Galchenyuk do a Maxpac, though, and spend a few months with Hamilton as first line center playing 20 odd minutes a night next year. Call it a "conditioning stint" or whatever, but I think it would bring up his game. Then again just solidifying his body for a year or two may do the same. He's on track, no problems, but I suspect the dominating the AHL would speed his development more than easing into the NHL.

Interesting how some people think that:

MT
MB
& all assistant coaches
& all ex-NHLer advisers in management
& Dudley
& whatever other pro NHL consultants

... don't know what they are doing.

Just maybe they all have a little more inside info on Nathan Beaulieu and his case than the general public.

Beaulieu will survive.

Galchenyuk in Hamilton for 20 games would help him hone his offensive skills.

Agreed.

Beaulieu is a mess defensively.:shakehead
Watch him in his own zone, his positioning and movement without the puck is god awfull.

Agreed. We give already too many odd man rushes and miss defensive coverage with the Ds we have, I don't think having Beaulieu in our top 6 is a good idea. I would've loved to see the management give Pateryn a chance to prove himself. But that's just me.

Pfft. Only amateurs need to actually get out of their own zone to win games.

Only twice in the past 13 games have the Habs outshot the opposing team (one of which was the only game Beaulieu played in) yet they have gone 9-3-1. In 6 of those games we were outshot by 10+ and still went 4-2-0.

Just cause Price saves our ***** doesn't mean we can afford to have our 5th best Dman in the minors. Nor should Therrien's job be safe.

Explain to me the logic in sending Gal down to play center only to have him play wing when he gets called up?
This makes no seonse. But I do agree with the idea that he should be playing center now.

Who isn't a mess defensively now?..
Even our Norris winner looks like a twit right now. It's just bad overall. Our structure is, let's not have a structure. So it's bad defensively no matter who's there. It's just bad.

Most of our Dmen lack the skill and size to carry the puck out of our zone. We get Bouillon's patented pansy-ass bouncy pass that inevitably gets picked off or misses altogether, and there we are -- stuck in our zone for another minute. That's why Beaulieu's skill is so valuable. He compensates for mediocre coverage by controlling the puck and actually putting us back on the forecheck. I realize playing a rookie like Beaulieu might open up some holes in our coverage, but we seem to be doing that anyway with our vets on the ice.

Beaulieu won't be down there much longer. Isn't Hamilton's season coming to an end? Don't they usually bring a couple players up after and keep them in the pressbox during the playoffs? He still may be utilized in the near future. No?

That argument probably the argument I hate the most on these boards

Flip it to Toronto:

RC who won a cup
Nonnis
Loiselle
Poulin
All the assistant coaches
Whatever other pro scouts they have

Clearly with their experience they all know what they are doing why should Leafs fans argue any of their decisions on contracts. Because the average fan couldn't see how terrible a decision clarkson & phaneuf signings were....

Just because a few of these guys played pro hockey for lengthy careers or managed junior and ahl teams for periods of time, and some at the NHL level for years (where they clearly messed up somewhere if they're not on those respective teams anymore - with exception to Dudley and MB).. Doesn't mean their decisions shouldn't be questioned!?

I'd take Beaulieu in the lineup any day over MT's little buddy Bouillon. In the 17 games Beaulieu played he certainly didn't look out of place and he was a +6. At least Beaulieu with his smooth skating and speed can skate the puck out of his zone and into the opponents zone with ease which is something that's lacking on the Habs D..

It was? Then I'm probably complaining for nothing then. Sort of.

We do have 8 healthy D, 4 of which Beaulieu has outplayed pretty consistently.

This is the main point. Playoffs upon us and we aren't playing this guy already? Just doesn't make any sense. Should've been in the lineup and playing a regular shift at least five games ago.

Give Bouillion a nice shiny gold watch and send him on his way. Buy Murray a one way ticket to Palookaville and go with what we've got.

He's looked really good. Put him with Subban and bust out the popcorn.

...Beaulieu & Tinordi both should be playing...both have earned it...I don't buy the "you can't play both young guys" arguement either...this is their time to step up...
