Nashville Predators Talk - 2024/2025 Season

Just like his math. 4% is not 4 in 10
Maybe he thinks all of the team ahead of us, and there are many, can lose all of their remaining games, even though they necessarily play each other. So if nobody advances in terms of points, we got a chance to win a few of the remaining games and get in the playoffs.

I don't know. It's dumb as a post, really.

Why hasn't there been any rumours of our players hitting the trade market?

What's the plan for next year?

I have an idea on this. The new free agents are the new core when I saw the influx of signings on January 1. The first thing I said was. “ that might be too much salt in the soup.” i.e. that might be too many new players that might influence the chemistry of the locker room. My thought was suck this year get all of the new players acclimatized then go for next year. I know of the January 1 signings were exciting and it’s a lot of talent to the team but you still gotta get people used to the team, the culture of the city. I’m gonna advocate a new form of patience. Let this year suck. Get a top pick, next year play well.

My plan would be trade-off all of the players who have UFA next year. Try and trade up pics, if anybody makes a good offer on the second year UFA listen. After that, bringing kids and cycle from Milwaukee.

If we could redo it, how many people would've traded Saros during the off-season instead of signed him?

He really has been the only reason this team has won games.

But I would've kept Lanks as starter and had Askarov as back up personally
We could've just fed Askarov to the wolves piecemeal.

Might have helped his confidence. In Bizarro World. :naughty:

I hear you and I agree that's a pretty unlikely scenario to have ever occurred.

For starters, I have zero trust in our scouts and development staff to truly draft and develop a legit offensive threat. If they had an eye for that, they would've already found their Johnston, Perreault, DeBrincat etc. For us, it requires a "cant-miss" draft position, like a top-five one, which I don't see us getting even after this shitshow of a year. There's still half of the season to go and there is no way this team is this bad when it's all said and done. So, the same will pretty much happen next year as well (difference being all of the core guys being one year older).
Is it the scouts or the HC/System? The Ads seem to play well with the players that are drafted/picked up. Its only when they are brought up to the big team when they seem to get stuck on the 3rd/4th lines. Aren't used correctly or at all.

I think there is a massive issue with Nichol being the head of your development program. Just saying. I've been thinking that from the first day he got into that position.

Also, Trotz's comments on Edstrom prove to me at least he is willing to listen to any calls on younger players.

How about we trade Saros? Or Josi? Or O'Reilly or NyQuil or Skeji?

In retrospect it would probably have been a better choice. I mean it couldn't have been much worse, BUT with the information I had back then idk...

IIRC a lot of folks on this board wanted to trade him at the last deadline because they knew the U2 streak was not a true reflection of the team.

Most all were optimistic preseason with what Trotz did. And honestly still on paper this roster should not be as bad as it has been. Now it seems even the players have lost confidence. The one mistake I feel Trotz made was the goaltending decision. On one hand if you're going to compete now you have to stay with Saros but the term of the deal is now nauseating. On the other hand Askarov had finished in the AHL and needed a starting job. Could the results have been better? As it sets now it is hard to think Askarov would have a worse record than Saros. No matter what he did in the past that Saros contract will be hard to move , he has had a few games but for the most part has not held the team in position to win.

So as we blame no neck we have to nlame ourselves because we liked the roster at the start of the season.

Well I’ve been on a nice two week vacation in New Zealand and have pretty much ignored hockey during that time. Looks like nothing much has changed. Going to be really hard to care about this team until one or both of Trotz and Brunette are gone.
