Most of these games this season look exactly the same from the start of the season until now. No better, no worse just more of the same bad hockey.

I was talking to friend and we agreed that if you edited together chunks of game video it would be difficult to tell one game from another. One extended stretch of game footage looks eerily similar to every other. And that would be fine if it wasn't 80% bad sandwiched by maybe 10% really bad and 10% avg to good. Every damn game.

Many/most teams would hit the eject button on Brunette right after the end of this road trip. This road trip didn't "bring the team together" nor produce better play once the distractions of home life were left in the rear view. Nothing in the results of the next two game will change my mind. Even if they won the next two convincingly, all that happened was a couple wins against average teams.
Barry has one realistic move to make. But he won't.

All I can see is it decided your dayum was superfluous or something. Sometimes you can be too concise. ;-)

This season is wearing on me and it's only November!
Barring a miraculous run like we had last year, this season is going to be a long, painful, disappointing slog. Something we really have never had to endure since the early expansion days. We are about to find out how spoiled we have been as a fanbase.

One thing to keep in mind if we attempt to move Saros, even though his contract value will increase next year, trading him to a contending team this year becomes slightly more feasible because he’s currently only on the books for $5 million.

Something else to consider and I don't know how this works, if the Preds were to retain, can it only be for the current contract or does the retention happen for the extension too?

My guess is they would need to be two different retentions.

Look, we can talk about trading Saros until the cows come home but the harsh reality is that they are not going to move him, period. Not four months after going all-in in the off-season.

We can't trade Saros now that Askarov is gone. That's just not happening.

I'm not sure why we should be in the market for anything until and unless the team shows a pulse. It's not like they're one player away from turning the thing around.
Do you think they are really going to be content in "wasting" this year after they just spent +100M in the off-season and basically pushed all their chips in the middle instead of trying everything to make the team better *this year*?

Don't think anyone is content, but at some point you have to deal in reality.
I could be wrong, but the reality appears to be that the coach has to be fired first. This looks like a pretty flawed and elderly roster that the GM gave him, but it shouldn't be worse than the 99 expansion team. No way does a +1 fix all the things wrong here. Time and nibbling around the edges won't fix the glaring square pegs vs. round holes issues. As someone else wrote, this team isn't progressing and looks as confused/lost/bad now as it did in game 1.

Speculating: we may be between a rock and a hard place as well. Is Trotz really all-in with an aggressive up tempo system that these guys can't execute? If he's talking to coaches out there, do they agree? Do they look at this roster and think, "it''s a job but, man, it is a death march too."

I still think they'll turn it around - to a degree. Whether that will be enough for playoffs after all is said and done remains to be seen, but there is no way this is a bottom-five team in April.

So, keeping that in mind, I don't think trading as buyers doesn't sound all that crazy. I think strengthening the defense is very crucial as is addressing the 2C spot (although I do believe we have more internal options there than the mgmt and coaching staff seem to think).

Fire the f-ing coach. I don’t know if that even makes sense but at least it will make itfun for a little while around here.

I’d love to know what the players really think about AB.

It’s on Trotz for picking a coach with a wildly uptempo aggressive style and pairing it with aging vets who largely lacked elite speed to begin with. It’s solvable- you need a match. In this case, a new coach. He probably hired the right guy for the job- on-the-fly rebuild… but then he changed the job. Trotz needs a coach like Trotz. Maybe this: fire his coach, hire himself, hire his replacement and fire himself?

Fire Bruno.

Get a 1C because ROR is done, or at least he is in this system and move him to 2C.

Trotz can pull a Lou and take over as coach or he can bring up Taylor. If he brings up Taylor, go with 6 veteran forwards and 6 kid forwards and see what happens
