Nashville Predators Talk - 2024/2025 Season II

Just kidding. I dont have the energy to be pithy. Seems like Burnette’s return is just what this team needed. I sensed a little confidence being built over the last couple of games - so we see that correction tonight.
He made some dumb decisions. The biggest was that GI call. Refs had been screwing up calls all night and you are going to let them make a judgement call on that and risk putting a team you absolutely don't want to put on the PP on the PP? Just dumb.

It’s hard to differentiate the different types of bitching and whining
LOL I'm neither bitching or whining. Stating facts. 8 years. Will be 38 by the time it ends. NMC. 3.02/.894. We will revisit this in a few years when he is bought out and see who is bitching and whining then 👍

As a long time Pred fan and die hard fan of the Preds I am so mad at what BT and Bruno have done to my team! I am not mad at the players and I will continue to root for them. This is NOT their fault but the GM/HC's fault! ROR is getting his face/nose busted, Vange catches a puck to the face, players are still trying. It is the upper management that has screwed this pooch and sunk this team.

The biggest thing to me is that if BT would come out and take some responsibility and say you know I tried a few things and they just didn't work, that is on me. But no he does not seem to be taking any responsibility in the downfall at all. That disconnect is what is so maddening right now. Both BT and Bruno seem like they have done nothing wrong. That attitude does not play well with fans.

Yeah, my apathy this year and willingness to drop my tickets for next year lie solely at the feet of Barry Trotz. His complete lack of humility leading to his insistence on continuing down the exact same path next year with Brunette is not something I can abide.

Simply losing isn't the core problem.

But they have been getting too much ice time all season! Those guys should be on the ice 10-12 minutes tops. If they PK then their 5 on 5 time needs to be 8 minutes or less, imho. Offense dies on their sticks. They have to know deep down that they are bit players and don't deserve what they have been getting.
No disagreements here.

McCarron #9 and Smith #10 by TOI/GP, but then again, who of the guys below them truly deserved more? I'm not happy with Novak being below these two, but who else do you think really deserved more ice time? This is an open question to everyone, because I missed a lot of games this season. In the games I saw these guys weren't that big of a liability, thought. Yeah, they're not offensively what you want from guys playing 3rd line minutes, but maybe Tomasinos and co. were too much of a liability for what they brought offensively?

Am I totally lost?

They're more like 8/9 since Bunting and Nyquist are effectively the same roster spot. And Evangelista only passed them recently by a few seconds.

I'm not too high on Tomasino, but I would indeed have played Svechkov, L'Heureux, Parssinen, Novak, and Evangelista consistently more than McCarron and Smith.

I think the key point here is not whether it would have made our team better today or not... that's unknowable... but we're 3rd last so it couldn't have made us much worse either. And meanwhile, we'd have logged some more development time for those other forwards, which MIGHT have helped make us a better team next season or beyond. Or improved the market/asset value of the ones we dropped. Or provided a little extra hope/entertainment to a disgruntled fanbase.

Anyone young with top 9 potential would be my answer.

Smith and McCarron are 4th line grinders that are a dime a dozen on the market. There is no more upside to be gained here.
