To Edmonton:
Josi

To Nashville:
Bouchard

Enough. ❔ ❓ ❔
This actually isn't bad. Bouchard's next contract is going to be a lot. Edmonton gets the better, cost controlled player, Nash get the younger player.

might need minor tweaking but it's a pretty awesome Oilers all in move

Carrier is the only RHD Nashville has that could possibly fit the description of Top 4 RHD. As much as i dont care for Carrier, i still wouldnt trade him for Arvidsson. That dude has a serious injury history and doesnt really help a retool. Id take him as cap filler but not as an actual return
Yeah, I would practically give Carrier away for nothing. He is awful. But at the same time, I wouldn't want Arvidsson back either. I do feel we have a decent chance at hoodwinking some team into taking Carrier for more than nothing if we were going to trade him, however, so I'm holding out for that. :D

No, seriously, he has photos of somebody in the Nashville front office, Carrier is not going anywhere.

I don't want Bouchard (and that contract he's up for with his McDrai-inflated stats).

It's all moot anyway, Josi will never waive his NMC. They have already commissioned the guy who is going to make the statue of him to put out front of Bridgestone.

Didn't realize he was 2023 - underperforming in his D+2 is even worse. I've seen him play and he's certainly not 5'11

The fact he's your "best prospect" is more of a testament to the quality of Toronto's pool and not his value as a winger

Literally the best player in the ohl last year and has scored in every single game for 56 games. Moved to play C this year and has not gotten a lot of assists but has scored 15 goals in 20 games. After being up with the leafs.

He has broken the record for most consecutive games with a point in the ohl (not a single season so it’s not the real record) kind of silly rhetoric from the last place team

Lol, they have the same amount of points and Josi has played less games.
For a Cup or Bust Oilers. I'm keeping the defenceman that put up generational playoff numbers.

Besides, we need Bouch's cap hit vs. Josi who costs more than double. That said, I've always been a fan of Josi, but there's not a fit here. He's Left Handed too and we are full up on the left side.

Right, and Josi is playing on the worst team in the league, so he's clearly not "washed" if he has the same points without playing with McDaviid and Draisaitl.

K he’s not washed. But he’s definitely not near his peak. Josi at his best controlled the game, doesnt look like he’s even trying to do that anymore. And maybe that’s the effects of being on a bad team, or maybe he’s trending down.

This is nuts. Josi isn’t what he once was but Bouchard is actually terrible anywhere other then the offensive point (where he is amazing).

Josi is way better than Bouchard right now.

Kampf + Holmberg + draft pick + maybe 7th rounder too?
for
Sissons + Parssinen + maybe NAS retains 50% on Parssinen?

Change of scenery swap with Holmberg Parssinen, Leafs get a vet 4C that expires in 2026 instead of 2027, cap is close and TOR takes on zero cap if Parssinen retained until offseason (it's only $0.3875m), NAS picks up a draft pick and maybe a 7th rounder as well.

I suppose Holmberg and Parssinen could both be removed as well, but I feel like they could both do better on a new team.

Niemela could be added instead of the pick or the 7th, potentially.

Main problem for Nashville, is that the pieces that most everyone else would want...are not the problem. The problem is more...the pieces that nobody wants.

That's the same problem for all teams. Actually it isn't a problem, that's just how hockey trades go, usually. You don't find a majority of trades where both fan bases end up exchanging players they like.

It's often more just...the reality of a team that is spiraling into those dark days where everyone screams, "blow it up" and it's like...blow what up? Because there's just nothing to blow up. It's a bunch of lower value players nobody wants, entrenched Vets with big contracts and NMC protection or virtually unmovable contracts, and a bunch of scrubs around them.

The Preds avoided this fate forever by developing one after the other after the other #1Ds and a few other very savvy moves. But at this point...it looks like they're at that tipping point. Try to keep throwing good money after bad? Or just tear down what little you can and try to retool...and if you've got some of those contracts on the books, will it even matter?

I've been down this road before. I watched the Canucks kind of stuck in with the Sedins and others and it really just had to run it's course. Takes time though. And it sucks while it's happening.

You can sell off the peripheral pieces all you want...but the core of the problem, is the big dollars guys who aren't living up to it. Those picks and prospects you get in a partial firesale aren't going to turn the team around.

The 7th rounder definitely makes or breaks the deal

Not sure he’s available, but I would love ROR back. Apparently he didn’t like Keefe, but he does have a good history with Berube.

1st (26) + Prospect not named Cowan/Minten + Kampf

What kind of value do NSH fans see Lauzon, Sissons, Novak, Parsinnen having? Those are all individual guys (not a package) that I find intriguing.

Lauzon - possibly get a 1st. Can play 2nd pairing decent enough. Cost controlled at 2 million for 1.5 seasons. Lays down hits which GMs love above actual defense.

Sissons - 3rd round pick. Maybe a 2nd or equivalent prospect if enough interest. Having a down season.

Novak - something similar to the Carrier trade. Struggling NHL forward or older prosect.

Pärssinen - some sweet sweet 2027 future considerations
