Well, I'd say 3 gp, 1g 3a is a good preseason pump up anyway.Start out the season trying to pump up Fabbro's trade value.

Yep. Id say he has played quite well. Still not great at avoiding taking penalties but playing more aggressive is niceWell, I'd say 3 gp, 1g 3a is a good preseason pump up anyway.
I think this has been the case all along. I just think there's some shotty reporting going on by this Alex Daughtery character. Paper move - no way a team enters the season with only 6D for no reason.Exactly. Per my post above, it could have just been a strategic move to ensure that Del Gaizo was "pre-cleared" in case Stastney comes back within the next 30 days. Keeping a 7th D on the team makes sense. I think they should just keep Del Gaizo up without re-assignment, now that it is confirmed they didn't claim any new #7D on waivers today.
To me, Fabbro is the 3rd-best defenseman on our roster. (This is NOT a ringing endorsement of our d-corps!) Now, how do you deploy him? I like putting him on the 1st-pair with Josi. That re-establishes one of the best pairings in franchise history. Can Fabbro keep it up? Why not, he was a top young prospect, certainly with better credentials than Lauzon or Carrier. Sometimes we just have to get out of our own way and let players play?I think this has been the case all along. I just think there's some shotty reporting going on by this Alex Daughtery character. Question I have is if that's the case does Del Gaizo sit or is he on the 3rd pair left side?
Skjei - Josi
Lauzon - Carrier
Del Gaizo - Schenn
Fabbro?
If they were doing that wouldn't they have announced del Gaizo on the opening night roster?Exactly. I don't think so, since they don't play until Thursday? Might as well skim a few pro-rated Cap $$$ until they actually need to recall him?If they were doing that wouldn't they have announced del Gaizo on the opening night roster?
I liked Foudy in Milwaukee.Maybe they’ll claim a 22nd player? There are a few almost-decent tweeners on waivers. Heck, Fagemo, Foudy, and Anderson-Dolan are back on!
But seriously, I would be tempted to grab Bussi. The way Wedgewood is playing… I mean, I don’t have any firsthand knowledge of Bussi, but he has been talked up for a while as a backup candidate for Boston. If he turns out to be worse than Wedgewood we could just dump him back on waivers. But I’m definitely worried about Wedgewood at the moment.
I think he will. There are several more experienced or higher profile D on waivers today.
Chicago is close to Milwaukee at 88 miles.I don't think so, since they don't play until Thursday? Might as well skim a few pro-rated Cap $$$ until they actually need to recall him?
But once they did recall him, he could be sent back down without having to clear again within 30 days. Or maybe somebody looks better than him this week in Milwaukee and gets recalled instead. Or Stastney comes back.
Anyway, sitting with just 6D and with enough Cap to have a 7th doesn't really make sense. Although the schedule is all home games or Detroit/Chicago games up near Milwaukee, so maybe they can gamble a little while on carrying 6 and being able to quickly get a replacement in a pinch. Who knows.
or a different backup goalie. I'm not sold Wedgewood isn't so bad we gottta find someone else just to give Saros a break.I guess not carrying an extra dman helps start building some cap space. If things go well this season and we get some free Joey bucks at the deadline, we could have some good capspace for an improved RHD
I think Stastney still counts towards the salary cap.I guess not carrying an extra dman helps start building some cap space. If things go well this season and we get some free Joey bucks at the deadline, we could have some good capspace for an improved RHD
It does not appear that Spencer Stastney's absence from training camp was injury related ("personal reasons"), so he would be designated as Non-Roster under Section 16.12 of the CBA (See below graphic). His salary cap hit would still apply, but the #Preds may fill his roster spot in the event the team happened to be at 23 players
Or bothor a different backup goalie. I'm not sold Wedgewood isn't so bad we gottta find someone else just to give Saros a break.
I don't think there's anyone better available. We missed our chance with Lankinen, which is a damn shame. Hopefully Korn and Vanderklok can conjure a decent backup out of the scraps we have signed currentlyor a different backup goalie. From the tweet below but within the "Show More"
The player assistance assignments usually are announced specifically as that though right? Him being on IR does suggest it is something health related so hope everything is ok for him.He was just placed on IR today.
So to me, that's a bit of an extra worry. "Personal reasons" could involve something like a death/illness in the family, which is serious and unfortunate, but not necessarily directly impacting the player himself. Subsequently qualifying for IR means something else. Like maybe they are being low-key about it, but sounds more like one of those Player Assistance assignments, or worse could involve the diagnosis of some health-related issue that is outside the usual type of "hockey-related injury".
