Tom Fergus. Acquired mid-season and formed part of an excellent secondary offensive line with Petr Nedved and Jim Sandlak, IIRC.

Fell off from there, but was great in that half season with the team.

My one really vivid Tom Fergus memory is this game :

Fergus scored the OT winner to win the game 1-0 for Vancouver and Larscheid lost his mind, and I can still remember listening to the game on the radio in my parents' basement.

I think the game stuck with me because this was the highest-scoring period in league history in the late 80s/early 90s and I had never seen a 0-0 game before.

Maybe it was just that I didn't pay attention to other teams at that age but the Canucks always seemed to be keen on reclamation projects in the early 90s and were sometimes successful. Fergus and Gelinas obviously, and the trade for Jimmy Carson was a big deal for a week or two. He looked great in his first game and I think he had 3-4 assists.

I recall we picked him for a bag of pucks from Toronto (I recall his contract was bought his contract for a $1000 but Wikipedia says he was waived) and turned out to be such a success that Don Cherry was talking about it. His size was perfect for the Nedved line and we saw the flash of why we picked Petr with his 15 point game streak.
When Quinn dumped him it was a few months after that that Nedved shocked everyone (they shouldn't have been) that he wanted off the team.

OK, I remember listening to this game too! On a scratchy radio signal from the U.S. side of the border. They mentioned that Dunc Wilson was the last Canuck goalie to have played in a 0-0 tie.

Remember he had a segment on the Canucks show "winning spirit" or something. Kooking with Kay?

Justin Kurtz. A veteran with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL when they entered into an affiliate agreement with the Canucks, the Canucks ended up giving him a contract and he got into 27 games. He scored a few goals early in his stint and played surprisingly well, but tapered off after a few games, went back to the minors and never returned. This was in 2001/2002.

Acquired at the same trade deadline as Markus Naslund, Jesse Belanger scored 3 goals in 9 games before adding 2 assists in 3 playoff games. Skilled offensive forward who won a Cup with the Habs in 1993.

Fun fact, I played on his wing in a Habs Alumni game a number of years ago. “Just get beside the net and keep your stick on the ice, I’ll find it”, he said. And Jesus, did he ever. I wouldn’t even be able to see him through a maze of players and then the puck was suddenly hitting my stick with astonishing force.

Off the top of my head he was acquired from the Panthers and the Canucks made a ton of minor deals that deadline?
