Again, as the poster above noted, they're based off of the current standings only... not who the team supposedly wants, player rankings, etc...
Even their order changes every few days, when they update it... that's a little absurd to think that they see every player in 3 day increments, and know enough to alter their rankings that often.
This site is purely for enjoyment purposes, and for anyone interested to get a general idea of some names... that'd be all.

I would be very happy if the Flames took Jordan Eberle. I think the kid is better than everyone thinks he is.

Regarding some of the comments made earlier-

First, generally you draft based on a BPA philosophy in the first round. You are building up assets first and foremost. In a few cases, if a FW and a DF are considered pretty much equal by a drafting team and this team has the next pick they may choose the player whose position the team lacks the prospect depth in- but those are pretty stringent conditions.

Next, you rarely look at the current NHL team situation when drafting. It is rare that players will fill a "hole" on the big team immediately after the draft. Current holes on the big team are better, and more likely filled by trades, free agent signings, or the development of previously drafted players. You very rarely look to the draft for that. The player-scape of a club can change a lot in the year or two until a 1st round pick is likely to make a meaningful contribution.

Third, Euros will fall these days unless the team has a very clear and firm commitment from the player, his agent, and his Euro club. Talent doesn't matter if you believe there is any chance you may never see the player in North America.

Finally, in the later rounds you tend to draft for prospect depth- so that you have a balance at all positions, but that's PROSPECT depth- not current team depth.
