This is what I have right now. I'll have one more pre-draft. Don't shoot me, I'm officially retired (from publications) , just thought it would be fun to do some work this year.

1. Matthew Schaefer
2. Michael Misa
3. James Hagens
4. Anton Frondell
5. Carter Bear
6. Jackson Smith
7. Porter Martone
8. Viktor Eklund
9. Jake O'Brien
10. Brady Martin

Interesting list. Curious your thoughts on Bear? That is 5-10 spots higher than most, what do you see in him that puts him in top 5?

And why no Desnoyers? His numbers are great and he looks impressive in my viewings.

Not meaning either as attack, just want to better understand what I may be missing. Thanks.

Martone at 7 is jail worthy

No Desnoyers?

I see Desnoyers more as a third line guy but he's close for me. Some have Carbonneau high, I'm not completely sold on his IQ. Spence I feel is gonna play but beyond third line? Hensler feels like a #5-6 guy, don't see the pace or the offensive game at the next level. I have considered Desnoyers, Ryabkin, Mrtka, Aitcheson, Lakovic for top 10 spots and I'll come back to them a few times more.

Ryabkin has massive question marks with how his story and fitness has gone but he easily belongs skill-wise. Mrtka is intriguing if you imagine what he could be 5-6 years from now but im not sold on his pace or defensive transition plays. Aitcheson is a solid guy but maybe won't be more than a #5-6 guy, Lakovic has top 10 tools but looks a little soft and disengaged away from puck to me. Still have to do some more digging on USA-based guys and Europe before coming up with a final top 10 I'm completely comfortable with, I'll have that pre-draft.

Carter Bear is a guy I'm pretty fascinated with. A bit undersized and some say he doesn't have as much upside. I don't agree with that take. He has been a dominant junior player and I just keep seeing a player that could be a strong producer in the NHL.

Jackson Smith is a player that I've seen ranked very high by eliteprospects and a few other lists, but he feels more like a teens draft pick to me. He's a big mobile puck moving defenseman that has good skating with some skill. Outside of that, I find his hockey IQ to be a bit below average. He skates himself into corners and will make some poor decisions with the puck. He reminds me a bit of Bode Wilde, Adam Jiricek, or a lesser Dmitri Smashev (none of whom I liked). I thought Smashev at least had a B game as a shutdown guy and had more size. You can argue Smith has more skill, but nonetheless, not my type of player.

As of right now, this would be my top 10;

1. Schaefer
2. Misa
3. Desnoyers
4. Hagens
5. Frondell
6. Martone
7. Eklund
8. Mcqueen
9. Bear
10. O'brien

There are a few notable players I didn't add to my top 10 that I would view as other strong candidates to get drafted high;

Carbonneau (my #11 as of rn)
Kindel
Aitcheson
Reid
Mrtka
Murtagh
Hensler
