Extra attacker, 0% possession, f***ing horrendous shit show, not sure this team is even worth the effort of watching for a while without some major change

Team as constructed is the middle of meh.

Too small for big teams like Florida , too slow for teams such as NJ and now have the same bad goaltending disease Jersey had LY until they tweaked their roster.

Tulsky now facing a broken team that he constructed and can’t fall back to the draft to fix short term.

FWIW: as I’ve noted a few times, Borgs model of putting a small/non hitting D on the roster along with no snarl hurts the team when key games/playoff time comes.

I blame Freddie :) for being hurt all the time but really losing both Pesce and Skjei is the big hurt (short term recognizing that both those guys will not perform late into their contract….then again, as Rangers have demonstrated there is always a gm out there will to take your aging expensive asset).

Not willing to blow up the ship just yet but do agree that if this continues then sell Orlov and a few others for younger assets and re-load next off-season (then again I’ll don’t see a bunch of very good assets outside of the very expensive Avs Finnish winger available). Edit: plus, I’d have Jarvis go get his injury fixed.

Honestly, if I'm the coach, I bench Aho next game. His performance in that game, ESPECIALLY late in the 3rd with the goalie pulled was inexcusable. But yea, none of our top 4 guys are playing worth dog shit right now, it's pitiful.

I have a hard time blaming Kooch too much, because team play in front of him has been abysmal, but he's also been downright awful in his own right at times. He's starting to seem more like a Ned/Samsonov type...he can go on a heater to make you believe he's a starter, then turn around and make you wonder if he's even worthy of being a backup.

Has RBA actually lost the room? Even if we make the playoffs, we're just not well-rounded enough to make a big push this year, we're small and Charmin soft, we can't clear our own net nor park in front of the opponents net. Pressure us to the perimeter and we're pretty much out of the game

Necas has lost his early-season domination, might be time to sell high-ish? And I really don't want to because we've seen what he CAN be sheyn on his game. Either that or we need to get him the support to bring that Nachos back? Or just ride out the season knowing we kinda suck and hope we can make some fixes in the off-season

Id rather miss the playoffs and sell contracts at the tdl than first out.

And I'll say it again. Losing pesce and skjei was too much. Could have kept one. And were getting what we deserve for being cheap about it. Yes. I said cheap.

I don’t think it played out like you think it did. By all accounts, our focus was getting Guenztal re-signed and we spent a good portion of time trying to get that deal done. By the time he made it clear he was moving on to Tampa, Pesce and Skjei had already moved on to other teams.

Now, I believe Rod did say that he believes if we hadn’t played chicken with Guenztal for so long, we probably would’ve been able to keep one of them (I’m assuming Pesce, simply because he signed for cheaper), but I don’t fault them for attempting to keep one of the very few truly talented forwards this organization has seen.

Putting all our eggs in one basket was a terrible decision. Always have to have a backup plan and we didn't have one. Got cocky and assumed Guentzel would just eventually cave to our demands and it rightfully blew up in our faces.

I also think the locker room took a big hit with Pesce-Skjei-Noesen as team spirit/glue guys with their replacements JR-Robinson-Carrier-Walker-Ghost not those types.

And of course Aho lost the Finnish sauna crew.

Honestly, even going on all-in Guenztal wouldn’t have been the worst if we had actually acquired him. After all, he certainly would help our current Top 6 issues, and while it would have come at the cost of Skjei/Pesce and probably Necas, the way it ended up, we still lost two of those three anyway. But everything I’ve heard is that we tried to nickel and dime him til the last minute, and that’s what cost us in the end.

And I’ll tell you, the higher ups aren’t exactly thrilled that Noesen and (especially) Pesce are thriving on the Devils right now. I was specifically told to focus on the Canes for these two games and not to worry about the former Canes because “it’s a sore subject.”

Just saw this comment on the PGT on Reddit and.... Yeah

I kind of disagree a bit in that goalie is definitely a problem, but this person hit nail on head to the root of our issues.

They need skilled forwards. They’ve lost the suffocating defense and will need to play to win games 4-5, and don’t really have the forwards to do that.

Goaltending is AN issue, but it's not our main one. The lack of production from our stars players looms over the season like a curse. We've shown in the past we can overcome bad goaltending. We can't overcome our Top 6 playing like it's a scrimmage.

Unfortunately this team is showing flaws up and down the roster. There's issues at defense, forward, and goaltending.

Necas single handily was winning us games for a bit, but there was alarming issues during those wins. Now that Necas has disappeared (1 assist in his last 7 games), it's no coincidence that the team has fallen as no one else at forward has stepped up.
