Muzzin vs. Hickey.

Ha! I was thinking about a poll in regards to Hickey or Muzzin. I still wouldn't have waived Hickey, but you can't blame DL for wanting to hold on to Muzzin now that we've seen his play improve.

On the same night Hickey had 2 assists.

Hickey's also a +6 in his last 8 games. Muzzin had a great game for sure, and I'm cheering for him as well, but it's not like one is greatly outplaying the other. Last week much of this board was ready to bench Muzzin.

Right now I'd take Muzzin as well, but it's not a 'case closed' decision.

Muzzin is paired with DOughty. Poor Hickey is paired with a pylon named Finley. Let's go easy with the party horns ;)

Muzzin looks MUCH improved when he moves his feet and gets physically involved though, no doubt!

Muzzin seems like a hot/cold type of player while maybe Hickey is a bit more steady and consistent? Too early to tell but it's nice to see Muzzin step up big.

Alright I agree with this. Hickey has been playing very well of late and I hope he can stay healthy and keep it going. I always said he had NHL level talent and belonged in the NHL and he is proving his naysayers wrong.

Same with Muzzin though, he has been solid since he came up but like any other rookie (except the elite) he has had his ups and downs but you could see that he was clearly getting a little better almost every game and now he is starting to show us what he can do at this level and that he belongs here without a doubt.

I stand by my forever prediction about Muzzin, 3rd pairing young dman who can skate pretty well plays a bit of a physical game and has a little bit of upside.

So far so good, there will still be bumps in the road but they are starting to even out.

Don't forget, getting paired with DD also means getting DD assignments aswell.

Muzzin has the hardest shot on the team. I'm glad Dean kept him.

Hey, I always said Muzzin's issues were in his head. He had the skill set and size to be good player. Obviously confidence is high right now! He's been awesome! Happy for him.

Really good point...forgot that side of things.

Guess I was just thinking of highlights from earlier in the night where I saw FInley covering NO ONE

Lets not get overly confident. I have to admit he's been playing very well and improving A LOT. But i won't be surprised to see people throwing Muzzin under the bus when he starts making mistakes.

Regardless, he's been great for us this year.

Muzzin ranks 3rd among all NHL rookie D in scoring.
He ranks 2nd among all rookie D men in +/-.

Both behind Simon Dupres in Pitts.

Dupres has played in 35 NHL games all total to Muzzin's 26.

Muzzin has played on average to this point more mins per game.

I understand that JM had a great game for a rookie tonight but there were some questioning rather or not he even belonged in the NHL up until recently and that is where Muzzin should be recognized, He should at the very least by now have silenced his strongest critics around here as it is clear that he has proven that he belongs in the NHL as much as any other rookie Dman in the league this year does.

He has also proven that he has an NHL skill set and that was being questioned too. Of course there are allot of games left this season and he will have his ups and downs but that is only to be expected, the kid is a rookie but in the end he is establishing himself to be a pretty good young NHL caliber defencemen so far and that is really all that we should expect of him.

The thing about Muzzin to is, with his size, his speed, and his shot, if he puts it all together damn....

He could become what the Kings want Forbort to be. What Buf thought they had in Myers.

with doughty snake bit offensively, having muzzin and voynov finding the twine is really helping this team roll.

He's really not when you look at the actual numbers. According to his statistical averages he is a .5 pt a game player and this year he is .47. He doesn't have any goals but even with that average he would have 2 or 3.
And this is with him having to have much more defensive responsibility with Mitchell and Greene out.

I would have kept Hickey over Drewiske, but Dean has a real Stanley cup ring and I just have a replica.

I don't think Drewiske brings anything long term for the Kings.
