Muzzin and Doughty are like Corsi gods. That pairing is ridiculous with advance stats %.

Agreed. Love the armchair condescension here.

Muzzin was awful for very long stretches in 2013 and even the beginning of 2014 season. Then he stopped being awful. Pretty easy to change an opinion.

Spouting crap like "I had faith in him all along!" wins you nothing more than a e-backpat. So congrats to Kings17.

There is no armchair condescension. I along with a few others were saying almost from the beginning of the season that Muzzin should be in the lineup over Martinez when it was all too popular to do nothing but bash Muzzin.

Sutter stuck with Muzzin through his learning curve and the Kings were rewarded. I enjoy how some that were saying he would never be any better than a 5-6 defenseman are on the bandwagon now.

Our front office isn't always right (a lot of the times, they are), but when they kept Muzzin instead of Hickey, that was a tough pill to swallow at the time for many. Probably because we have an inherent draft position bias. Muzzin's confidence level has to be sky high right now and hopefully that translates into a breakout season. I'm not too concerned with what he'll re-sign for. A few good young defensemen in his position just re-signed this offseason for deals with AAVs in the 3's and I think Muzzin's will be the same unless he puts up 40+ points this season and continues his upward trajectory. Maybe he'll sneak into the 4s. To think that DL signed both Muzzin and Jones as FAs is pretty dang nice. That's why when I see the front office sign FA young guys, I pay a little more attention now.

He did do well enough to win a Cup as a number 2 after all.

As far as a long term goes... I'm not 100% sold... depending on how much the cap goes up next year Lombardi's going to have to makes some decisions.

I could see Muzzin getting a Voynov type deal around 4M for some term... but then you have to take into account what does that do for re-signing Stoll/Williams. Do you have someone that can replace any of those guys, Muzzin/Stoll/Williams....

Then Lombardi likes his Vet warriors, guys like Mitchell/Regehr/Greene. Is Lombardi going to go with Greene as the only D on the roster over 230lbs? If you sign Muzzin around 4M does that leave money to bring a guy like that in?

McNabb.... 650k cap hit... is he more of a Regehr or Muzzin replacement? Would Lombardi be comfortable running BM/VV on the second pairing? He just threw Muzzin on the first and that worked....

Note: Just because I have questions about Muzzin's future in regards to the cap doesn't mean I hate Muzzin. It will be interesting to see how Lombardi handles the situation. That's after the Kings kick the crap out of the rest of the Pacific this year.

You sign Muzzin and Williams and if you have any money left, you sign Stoll. In fact, you sign Muzzin before Williams if you have to make that decision. And I don't say that lightly, because I am a huge JW fan, but #2 D-men are impossible to acquire.

Muzzin is a RFA. He isn't going anywhere.

Of the UFAs, I would sign in order Williams, Martinez, and Stoll.

No chance RR gets resigned.
