Haven't seen it discussed by media yet, not sure if it has been discussed here but pretty sure 55 is dealing with a shoulder issue. If you go back to after his 3rd goal the other night against Florida - there is a few second clip after the goal where he is getting his right shoulder worked on by a trainer on the bench. Def knew something was up this game because 81 was taking faceoffs instead of him.

I honestly think Perfetti has been way better this year. It feels like it is more unlucky that he hasn't had more points at 5 on 5. Sure you need to score, but he will breakthrough as long as you keep giving that line time.

Id try moving pionk up with Morrissey.

That allows us to insulate say Heinola if they choose to call him up with Smoke.

Then we can run the remainder as usual.

I want Stanley back, I think he's been better than Fleury who while a good skater has a pretty awful first pass and likes to ice the puck.

This is why the analytics are misleading.
The first Preds goal Scheifele takes the man out in front of Comrie but its a seeing eye shot from the point 1-0 Preds. .. minus one for #55.
The 3rd Preds goal Morrissey pinches in and Preds are 2 on 1 break the other way Comrie stops it and rebound goes by 2 Jets onto Preds stick ... minus two for #55.
Empty net goal minus 3 for #55.
Scheifele also gets 3 minor penalties?
The Jets did not lose because of Scheifele but the analytics point to that direction.
The Jets didn’t lose because of 55 you are right. Other than Conrie they were mostly all not good. But that line was significantly out played all over the ice. 13 and 81 are just as much to blame as 55, turning over pucks, cheating for offense (which they always do but last night it didn’t work) and taking really long shifts and then changing at bad times. 13 was a ghost, at least it looked like 81 was trying. They were on for a bunch of goals as well as one that was disallowed for an offside but was a terrible defensive play by them. 55 and 81 have been mostly fantastic this year but this was a night where they were among the worst Jets.

This was a group as whole that looked like they tried but just ran out of gas in the back half of the game.

Well I agree with what you say about defending as a 5 man unit in principle, from watching the games Samberg has taken on a key defensive role. I would that 90% of the time that Lowry's on the ice, it is either Morrissey-De Melo or Samberg-Pionk in that defensive role against top 6 players, often in the defensive zone. Then there is the PK where Samberg has been solid on the top unit. Big skates to fill, and tough break for the guy in a breakout year.

What I see down the depth chart is Fleury struggling to make reads and move the puck cleanly, on a sheltered bottom pairing. Heinola is not going to be thrust in a top 4 defensive role, maybe he plays with Pionk in a more offensive one, and Josh has to eat more hard defensive minutes in Samberg's absence. Stanley does not seem capable of steady 20 minutes per night hockey, though he may take some of those PK minutes. It's generally a hole when you lose a top 4 defenseman, and the Jets are not stacked with depth on defense in the top 4 sense. That's where I wonder if Salomonsson would come in and play his offside, as he did in preseason. Skating wise, and physically you are looking at a similar type player, but is he ready for the NHL? This is going to be an interesting period for the Jets, where they are going to have to rely on stronger defensive play from their forwards to negate the loss of a top defensive d-man.
Yeah this will be interesting for sure. Ville may be hard pressed to handle 20 mins. Maybe throwing him into the fire is exactly what he needs, and we worry about managing the fatigue a week from now?

If we throw Stanley up with Pionk I fear we may get murdered... but someone needs to play there and Ville is such a wild card.

Like you say, Fleury has been mediocre at best which is what he is. Top 4 would be real bad with him too I bet.

Salo coming up is interesting. I think Ville is a better bet to step in and play top 4 right now but that one is a hunch, no one knows for sure.

Cole has been a lot better, but isn't getting much puck luck atm. He's created/had about 7 grade A chances the last few games, but doesn't have anything to show for it. He keeps creating like that and points will come. Having said that he's still pacing north of 50 points even with things not going his way.

I agree that something is up with Mark, he's even getting KC to take draws.

I guess if Ville is looking for an opportunity, the opportunity is finally there again

Don’t love bringing any player into the NHL and dropping him on the second pair cold with Pionk. Realistically the Jets have 4 D men capable of playing top 4 minutes currently and after that we are elevating a bottom pairing player to the role. All good though shit happens and every team goes through injuries.

What are we trading away for Pettersson ?
That’s for Chevy and Dubas to iron out.

I’m not sure I’d fully oppose moving Barlow or to a lesser extent Chibrrikov but he doesn’t have Barlow’s pedigree. I’m severely doubting Barlow’s ability to be more than a one trick pony who doesn’t drive play much on his own.

Also not sure if maybe Provorov might be more suitable for the Jets or not either.

Jet and Ducky10 both suggested bumping Pionk up, and pairing Ville with Demelo. Seems like a smart switch to me.

I think that you'll get your wish once Stanley is cleared for contact. And, I'm OK with that as Fleury has been a bit of a disappointment to me, although I'm not sure what I should have expected from a 3rd pairing guy. However, Stanley, too, is often guilty of that awful first pass that then results in an icing.

At this point Barlow is projecting as a career AHLer with a good shot and not much else.

In all likelihood the sooner we move on the better.

Yup I just stumbled on those posts and think it is a much better idea. Ville has had some terrible injury luck in camp the last two seasons. Maybe this is the injury gods tossing him a bone. Good luck to all these guys getting more minutes due to injury. Please let us get even a mildly pleasant surprise out of this adversity.

What do you mean "projecting as a career AHLer"? Based on what? That's a pretty bold statement to make.

Maybe this is unfair to him, I'm not sure.

His scoring rates dropping from where they were two years ago. He went from 80 pts in 60 games, to 60 in 50, to less than a point a game this year...

He has never had much of a playmaking element to his game compared to most NHLers, let along top six guys.

It's not the end of the world because Walton and He have stepped up and arguably performed like first rounders this year.

I'm open to hearing arguments in favour of Barlow. I dont want to shot on the young man. I hope im wrong. My 300 foot balcony view he is one of those guys who probably just didn't take another step after being drafted.

Maybe some folks smarter than me will chime in. This should probably be in the prospects thread.

Got home and skimmed this board and decided I don't want to watch the game after all. Looking at the highlight package on TV, it appears that Comie was our best Jet, Samberg was the unluckiest one, and the rest of the team took most of the night off.

As @Jets31 has pointed out, we're 7-3 in our last 10 games and still first in the league with a lead of 4 points. If you told me back in August that we'd be positioned like this after a quarter of the season, I would have been delighted. So that's my mindset after leaving Nashville: I'm delighted with the team.

Speaking of delighted, the movie "Wicked" is incredibly entertaining. Easily the best movie of the year. You can't leave the theatre without feeling joyful and uplifted and totally dazzled by the special effects.

Now, four tough games ahead of us, with the cliched four-pointer tomorrow. If we win that one, I'd be inclined to declare the road trip a premature success. Just not within Samberg's hearing.

I agree with pretty much all of this -
What it comes down to is the fact that we are a lot worse on D without Samberg - and IMO, filling that gap will rely as much (or more) on our 5man system over who slots into the top 4 - because who ever that is, it will be much less than what we had.

I'm thinking that it was closer to 3 hours but I was on a date with a guy who likes to watch ALL the credits after the movie and I didn't want to reveal how much I needed the washroom.......so, I wasn't really noting the time right then!
Is it still the Masseuse, phsyiotherapist? What's happening with your move to Vancouver?
