In the Lindros years they used to play a song off the Cult's last album before Ian Astbury's ill-advised hiatus to become the lead singer for the Doors' (even more ill-advised) revival. I think it was "Rise".

The "modern" organ or setup began in 1988-89. When they show MSG's The Vault or you can find old clips on YouTube, the Garden had a much older style organ prior to that season. It's slightly modified but more or less has been the same for the last 30 years.

The Garden got a new, richer sounding organ in the last year.

Addendum — The Mighty Ducks used to have a terrific song the used as a major part of their game presentation. Haven’t been there in a while so I don’t know if ownership continued using it with the change in identity.

I saw somewhere once that this song is the most played song in the United States because it literally gets played at every single sporting event.

That's awesome yet not surprising. It has a catchy opening riff that's perfect for jacking up crowds.

The new organ I believe was for the 16-17 season.

Loved it when the Rangers walked out to Baba O'Reilly during the 14-15 season. Epic.

To me, the greatest song of all time is Sinatra's rendition of "New York, New York", and I love that MSG will play it late in the third period when the Rangers are in a close game. Nothing on earth can get me more excited than that.

"Pru-CHA! Pru-CHA!"

Good memories of 05-06. I'm just picturing Jagr in that Genghis Khan outfit doing the dance.

EDIT: On the topic of Sinatra, I'll leave it to Bob Cole & the CBC team to tell you how I feel:

Some songs I remember when the Rangers came out on the ice was Gaslight Anthem “45”, Kings of Leon “ Don’t Matter”, The Strokes “Last Night” When they went on a PP.. Theory of a Deadman “Bad Girlfriend intro”

Of course they still play Machinehead in the middle of the game before a face off. Handclap song as well which is really getting overplayed in every arena.

Someone mentioned the Ducks? I was at a game back in March in Anaheim, not sure what the intro song was, but was pretty cool with Wild Wing skating around with the flag.

You guys are right with the organ @bobbop @NYRFAN218 what I meant was stylistically, the organ has been similar since 1988-89 if you go back and watch videos.

I remember going to a few games in 08-09 and they used The Gaslight Anthem song The '59 Sound off of that album (which was their debut and garnered a lot of critical acclaim) as warmup music. I really liked that album and felt that band got really boring after, trying too hard to be Springstein disciples.

When I think Renney Era I think of Foo Fighters. In Your Honor and Echoes came out during that time and they'd come out to at least 2-3 songs in that era.

I love when they looped the intro to Phil Collins "Something happened on the way to heaven" on Opening Night when they announced the roster sometime in the late 80's / early 90s

Little OT but speaking of songs that stick with you from sporting events, the MJ led Bulls intro (Allan Parsons Project) from the mid 90's. Man, I wasn't even a bball fan at the time and was barely 10 years old, but when that intro came on I knew the team in blue and orange was f***ed

When they used Saliva's "Ladies And Gentleman" as the intro in the 2007 playoffs, it got the whole place amped. Good song for sports, and the video team had a pretty good video that went along with it. I think I went to 4 playoff games that year and it really set the atmosphere.

Baba O'Riley always makes me think of playoffs and Hank leading the boys out...but it was always looped and never got to Daltrey's gutsy singing...
Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living
I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven

I always thought that would have been appropriate. Guess they didn't have enough time.

What would I like to hear...maybe Thin Lizzy's The Boys are Back in Town. Lots of energy in that one.

Guess who just got back today
Them wild-eyed boys that had been away
Haven't changed that much to say
But man, I still think them cats are crazy
