Hey all...

I was driving back from Alberta today... I listened to a lot of great tunes...

Then I listened to the one I'll post further down...

This tune is all Innuendo...

Let's do innuendo tunes... not including modern rap (I have one from earlier when rap was good - not crass... clever... if no one posts it...)

It's fun to sing along with this tune... and I did today sailing by Indian Head... with a big smile on my face as I did...

More innuendo...

And yes after being inspired by Squeeze Box I proceeded to search my SSD for this tune... and find this...

Another great tune to sing along with... and I did...

A very unconventional band...

As a bonus... I have provided it courtesy of the Fishin' Musician from SCTV...

If you just want the tune... skip to 3:56...... this Tubes bit is just F'n awesome...;

While not stuff I've heard before I'm always on the lookout for new music to listen to. FM is utterly pointless in that matter; YouTube's algorithms are set far too tightly (I don't need to have suggestions for stuff already in playlists) and I've heard Spotify has gone downhill considerably since they let go of so many staff. So i'll take recommendations wherever I can get them. I obviously mesh musically with many of the other oldsters around here but there's lots of good music out there so bring it on. Worst thing that can happen is I don't like it and won't listen again. But this thread has brought me much joy and lots of bands I was unaware of.
Good to know, I'll have to remember to throw things in here more often!

I'd say I have a fairly diverse taste in music. My parents listened to their fair share of classic rock and went to a lot of concerts. They really enjoyed blues, reggae and funk as well. So it started with them. I've credited the Tony Hawk video games for expanding my tastes during my teenage years. Exposing me to punk and hip hop. Had my metal head phase around 18. Started getting into electronic stuff mid 20's.

When income was more disposable, I went out digging for vinyl every weekend. Now I get a lot of use out of the iTunes music app, how that compares to Spotify I have no idea. This is a golden age for music. Artists no longer slaves to record companies. There's so much out there now, impossible to listen to it all.

Where in my 20's I'd be constantly listening to music throughout my day, I find my interest ebbs and flows now. My drive to work is typically a half hour, so I have a good chunk of free ear time. I'll find myself choosing between tunes an audio book or enjoying the silence.

However, spending time with my baby girl, I've seen how much music can calm her down and widen her eyes. So I've been playing things for us to enjoy together.

Been getting into Charlie Parker

This track and the album it's from is more appropriate for summer but I can't get enough.

Credit to my uncle in law for introducing me to this.

Fantastic. SCTV was before my time but I used to watch reruns on Comedy Central when I was growing up. It's incredible how much talent there was on that show. My old man loved John Candy, passed the affinity on to me. I'm a perogie hound and he'd always make sure to tell me John loved Alycia's when we'd go there for lunch.

As far as songs with innuendo, this came to mind instantly. This song was a running joke between my friends and I. Named our ball hockey team after it. It still cracks me up, especially the faces he makes in the music video. David Wilcox a good Canadian fella, to boot.

This one is a little less subtle, but as a teenager I didn't catch his drift initially. A bit of irony there. Great wordplay from my favorite emcee.

No innuendo here. Pretty blatant, but good for a laugh. Not sure why but I feel compelled to dedicate it to @Jets 31

Very aware of Wilcox... he's on my portable SSD for my drives... love his chops, energy and humor...

Hadn't heard the MF Doom or really on my radar... a London rapper at that... checked out his bio... I'm going to indulge in it... thx...

As for Wieners... Bo Carter is from a long list of Blues men... like Blind Blake, T. Bone Walker, BB King, Son House... and I can't forget Muddy Waters... so many great Blues men... many of them loved their innuendo laced stories in their music... great stuff...

Thanks Ponds...

Oh... Wilcox is on my bucket list... playing in Kitchener early in February... and then Niagara Falls... no where close or I would be booking the tickets... I must keep my eye on him...

I am about to drive out to Lowe Farm, and as the theme seems to be diversity  I will put in three for all of ye:

Motorhead

The Black Keys (best album in my humble opinion)

And M83's "Wait"

A great song and the band's name is that of one of my favourite galaxies.

It's not musical diversity we are threading... it's tunes that feature innuendo...

Any Lemmy laden tune is awesome... I love the Black Keys... my daughter had bought tickets for my birthday, but advent of Covid cancelled their concert in Winnipeg...now they are no more... A tune named after a star system... is their a tune about Coelecanths... ?

Here's a live version of Thick Freakness... it's awesome... thx for the contributions Kan'...

Here's another innuendo led peice...

Before all the gangster rap came in and wrecked the orginal idea of rap... challenge peacefully... smackdown without violence...

A Tribe Called Quest were a clever bunch... no denegration of women... no call to violence... no glorification of crime... message based without preaching...

And clever word play with humor...
