Sorry for the late feedback…
I thought the whole thing was just awesome!
Movie has had some cosmetic clean up, it looked and sounded great. I honestly haven’t watched the movie in 10+ years, so was good to get reacquainted with it.
The Q & A part was well done, Paul Williams seems to be hanging in there pretty well at 83. The Juicy Fruits/The Undead guys were there as well. Some very interesting takes on their careers and how the whole film came about. Their love of Winnipeg was front and centre… and why wouldn’t it be, we’ve helped to keep their careers half assed relevant for 50 years! It did drag on a bit… a few people ended up leaving.
First time seeing the local band Swanage, (they closed out the evening) and I came away very impressed. Can’t remember the lead singers name, but holy crap he has a great set of pipes. The girl who sang the Phoenix songs (nowhere near as hot
) acquitted herself very well, her Juicy Fruit harmonies were spot on. The band itself held their own musically.
The old boys from the Juicy Fruits came out for their songs, as well as Somebody Super Like You (The Undead) and knocked it out of the park!
Kudos to the local people who did all the organizing, I think there’s a core group of 6-8 people who make most of it happen. They did a fantastic job.
I have never seen a merch line like that in my life… believe they sold pretty much everything.
Well worth the $100 or whatever it was we paid for a ticket, my wife’s friend flew in from Vancouver for it too.
And that’s my take!
