A name, Nina Simone, that I had heard for years and saw her face on the cover of records but never thought I'd like it, but scratching around on Youtube I listened to this song and loved it. This is the 5 minute version. The original is 10 minutes.


Another guy that I happened to stumble across from Youtube some years back is the laid back, picking blues music of Mississippi John Hurt. Well, the name endears you right away and the music's some good listening, to my ears anyway.



Another lady that I ran across from Youtubing is Elizabeth Cotton. Again a picking blues musician. I think it''s great to be able to watch these old recordings of musicians who could have been so easily forgotten if not for modern technology. Imagine what she would think to see 4 million people watching her play her songs.
And she's playing a right-handed guitar left handed as the pick guard is at the top instead of the bottom.
