Back in 2002 a little known Alt-Country musician and a musical legend got together to record some of their songs together. It was part of the CMT series Crossroads.

The names are Elton John and Ryan Adams...that's RRRRyan Adams, don't shout "play summer of '69" at his concert.

Here's them singing Tiny Dancer together

This is Elton singing the Ryan Adams song "Sweet Carolina" sounds very much like a song that would fit comfortably in Elton's catalog. They sing it together on the Crossroads video.

This is Ryan singing his own song

The whole session is available on Youtube.

For some weirdness, here's Ryan Adams doing a cover of the Taylor Swift song "Shake It Off". He actually recorded that whole album acoustically for some strange obsessive reason. It's funny how the whole tone changes.

Here' Shake It Off

Here's Bad Blood

Ha, he also does a cover of "Wonderwall"

Two of these three bands I never saw in concert much to my chagrin. I saw only Molly Hatchet and even then not at the prime of their career. They played the Bank on Main one night in the early 2000s and the crowd was pretty sparse. Darby Mills was there, so I got to meet her (btw all of the people I've met are because of Howard Mandshein, who I'm not a friend with, but a buddy of mine is very good friend of his - I've met him probably a hundred times but he never remembers me). She's absolutely tiny btw.

Either way the show was great but it was also probably the loudest show I've ever been at (and I saw Ozzy's last show at the old arena which was freakin' loud). The encore quite literally had my pants flapping from the sound coming from the speakers (Marshall, of course). Next day at work the woman in the next office came in and had to tell me to stop yelling at the people on the phone. I had to change my voicemail to tell people that I'd call them back the next day because I couldn't hear a freaking thing or modulate at all.

I don't recall Saxon ever coming to Winnipeg though I'm sure they did. Y&T did come through Winnipeg and has played a few shows in Minnesota not too far away but I've never been able to make the show.

If you own a bike, you'll relate. The fastest I've ever gone on land is 226 kph and I gotta tell you, things fly by. Very briefly in the scene from Terminator there is a 1985 or so CRX which was the first new car I owned. I loved that car. Just a little 4 banger but it weighed nothing at all so was super quick. I also learned how important weight over the rear wheels is important in winter in a FWD.

Original video of this was not to be posted due to certain images. My bad. I'm re-posting the song, different video but if you want a link to the original which has some great motorcycle imagery, pm me for the link. Same song:
