I think Winnipeggers would prefer an arena in the suburbs with free parking. Did you know the new rate to park at Eaton Place for a Sunday afternoon event is $15?

nah. I'd rather pay and be able to get in and out in 5 minutes than deal with traffic jams.
as for the arena, I was just at Marvel, the new scoreboard is huge. it fits inside the upper ring when it's out of the way. quite a bit of the glass is up for the loge seats, and most, if not all, of the supports for the new LED ring are in place.
Maybe wishing on a new arena isn't such a good idea. Looks like Oilers fans are in for some sticker shock.

Our loge seats are bargains compared to theirs.
Looking at the pricing I'm ok with not building a new arena. Edmonton is going to displace us with a higher average seat cost, no doubt. Obviously a nicer building but at the same time I go to hockey games to watch hockey games. Weird, eh? Looks like my seats in that building would be about $750 more per seat, per season. Not awful but their club seat pricing is.![]()
Given how awful they have been lately you have to wonder how well their sales will be at what looks lime a real high price point.
You know I was being tongue-in-cheek. I was at MTSC today as well and the parking sign floored me. That's crazier than the $13 for an outside spot on Donald St. in January.
There was a picture of the giant ring in place and I thought the scoreboard would fit nicely inside it.
LOL. You guys don't realize how cheap parking is in downtown Winnipeg. I'll pay $15 for a day's parking at an outdoor lot in Edmonton. The last time I had to go to Calgary for business I think I paid $30 for covered parking.

That's really common in Arena in general.
As for the concourse issues Ive always wondered why they don't utilize the massive atrium more. Their is so much air space in it that they could fill in. they expanded a little bit but why not really try utilize the space the have. Throw a few more gathering places like heros in the corners.

I do. Back in the early 1990s when the Timberwolves first came to Minneapolis and played out of the Metrodome, parking close to the building cost $25 for a surface lot. It's pricey to get close for Vikings games as well. So when I can get into the Delta for under $15 for heated, covered parking I'm smiling all the way.
The problem is we're all still in Winnipeg and from Winnipeg. We're pissed they're screwing with the free street parking. We'd happily walk four blocks but they're taking that away from us. Bugs me mostly because of the poorly thought out process but it just resolves the issue of not bothering to look for street parking anyway. I'll pay my $8-15 for some degree of parking lot parking and be done with it. I'm sure beers will hit the $10 point this year inside MTS anyway.
Wowza, looks cool.
OK, I'm completely not seeing how/where this goes in relation to the rest of the score board.
If you look close you can see a drawing of how it fits into the scoreboard in the lower right corner..
