Post-Game Talk: MTL win 4-2 and clinch playoffs!!

Heineman with his speed and forecheck really gave Evans and Armia a much needed shot in the arm tonight. Very good game from that line tonight.
My anxiety levels dropped for a moment every time their line stepped on the ice and I could take a breather. I suspect that it’s how MSL deploys them as well. They are so good at keeping possession along the boards and disrupting the play.

I'm glad they won, so tie breaker doesn't have to be used. 91 points! Beginning of year, I was thinking 76-82 points would be a good growth season. They blew by it.
Last summer on the main, there was a thread about which of the Wings and Habs rebuild was doing better and in it, I postulated the same as you (around 80pts), but that if everything went perfectly, they could get to between 85 to 90 points, especially because of the additions of Laine and Hutson. Things didn't go perfectly though, far from it, which makes their 91 points even more impressive.

We still have much talent coming up, some much needed changes to be made too. Once these get added, this team will napalm villages all across from Glendale to Kanata.

A few things had to go our way this season to make the playoffs (like the Rangers folding) but considering this team was 31st at the start of December, our roster is pretty flawed without a legit 2nd line center and we have basically been playing for months like our season was on the line, it's remarkable. This Habs team has punched way above their weight class since December. The only other Habs team this century that comes close to this type of magic is the 2002 and 2010 Canadiens.

Whatever happens from this point forward; I will be good with it. We aren't supposed to be here. We are still rebuilding. Yet here we f***ing are! Playoff bound! Even if we get bounced in four games, so what... we are in the mix. Headed in the right direction with so much youth talent that hasn't even began to reach its potential yet.

I am content.
We talked about playing with the bank's money coming down the stretch.
Now it's like we've cashed in Big Time and still have all the Bank's money

My anxiety dropped when Suzuki scored that second goal. The entire team felt a weight lift off them.
You aren't wrong about Evans though his line with Heineman had their best game in like forever particularly as the game wore on.

Everyone had the Rangers in the playoffs. Also, the seismic implosion of the Bruins. It wasn’t factored in anywhere.

Bruins falling was expected, maybe not as bad as it was, but they lost too many of their core in the last few years and just patched the holes with duck tape.
