Not sure Savard has that kind of value right now, but if he plays well enough and stays healthy he could fetch something like that at the deadline.

While it would be nice, it would be a complete luxury to make this move. If anything JBB needs to use those 2 2nd Round picks to try to get another Top 6 forward.

Trade makes no sense for the Habs.
Savard is a veteran, leader, defensive RHD; all areas of need for the Habs specially with all the younger D coming up.

It will take an overpay to get Savard (1st round pick).
& We not gonna give up our last retention spot for 2 seconds. We have more than enough picks.
It’s gonna take a first and those 2 seconds to get that deal for Tampa (MASSIVE OVERPAY) AT THIS POINT IN TIME GIVEN THAT THE HABS WOULDNT WANT TO MAKE THIS DEAL.
Obviously different situation at TDL.

Edit: added the clarification above as some have difficulty understanding context.

Generally if your base of comparison is the worst contract of the offseason, time to find a new comparison
Savard makes $2.3 million in base salary, has a $500k signing bonus and a $3.5 million cap hit, yet someone wants the Canadiens to retain so they can add two 2nd-round picks that aren't even needed? Pass.

Savard at 50% isn't worth that much and RHP doesn't move the needle at all. If all the other defenseman are gone by the deadline and a team really needs one they might give a very very late 2nd for him but most likely its in the 3rd to early 4th round pick.

He's has more worth in Montreal where he can show the young defenseman how to give their all and block shots.

Savard is gonna return a stupid price at the deadline because the RHD market is f***ing awful this year but I'm not sure he's even better than Cody Ceci

There's no rush whatsoever to trade Savard, especially with how inexperienced the Habs blueline is atm.

Add in the return is only a 2nd rounder and it's even more of a head-scratcher.

They say that every year on this board. Last year it was Monahan. Year before Chiarot
I'm a Habs fan, too and the thing is.. we say this about all our players, so yeah we're bound to be right some times.

We were wrong about the value of Lehkonen, Edmunson, Petry, Allen, Dadonov amongst others.

And I'm seeing people packaging Barron and Anderson together for legit players like McGroarty, Necas and Laine, like its the new Ryder, Halah and 2nd meme.
