Colorado Receives:
- Brandon Saad (25% retained by STL)


Kirby Dach has an all-time low value right now. Some Montreal fans say they want a first for him and others say they'd take a mid-round pick. I think Texier and a 2nd is pretty fair value. Montreal could choose to hold on to him, but they risk his already low value becoming nonexistent.

St. Louis has a plethora of wingers right now but needs a fill-in at 2C until Dvorsky is ready. Dach could be the option. Moving Saad and Texier frees up 2 wing spots for younger players.

Colorado has had a ton of injuries this year and is in desperate need of consistent scoring from a winger. Colorado is already familiar with Saad and if Saad is one thing, it is consistent. STL retains so that when Colorado gets healthy, they can still fit Saad in.

The last thing the Avs need is a winger right now. There are far more pressing needs. With their limited draft capital, it seems unwise to spend a 2nd on a much much lower priority.

I like Saad, he fit in well with the Avs. But the Avs have a 1G problem to address, they need depth on D, and then they could maybe target some forward depth

Colorado already tried the Brandon Saad experiment and it didn’t take as Saad signed with St. Louis in free agency when Colorado chose to let Brandon walk.

Montreal paid a significant price to acquire Kirby Dach, can’t see them dumping him for a dime a dozen bottom 6er like Alexandre Texier and a mid to late 2nd round pick.

Texier is just a guy but Saad is a dependable year over year 20 goal scorer and is worth more than a bust.

It's important to learn to differentiate or else you could end up drafting high every year and the guys not turning out

As a Blues fan I have ZERO interest in Kirby Dach. Dach might be one of the dumbest players I've seen in quite a long time.

I'm certainly not trading anything of value to have to watch him play hockey. I've watched 4 or 5 Canadiens games this season and every game Dach makes at least one completely braindead play.

Dach missed an entire season recovering from a knee injury. I think Hughes is fine with giving him time to get his mojo back. Theres still potebtial there. It's a big no from Montreals perspective.

I'd say Montreal wins, just because we get more than a 2nd for Dach, who's standing on the edge of a cliff atm.

If I were Montreal, I'd take the risk of holding onto Dach and giving him the time he needs.

A fully healthy and confident Dach will be far more valuable to Montreal's rebuild than Texier and 2nd is likely to be.

I think Saad provides more for the Blues than Dach does.

Would sooner rather just grab a cheap vet center that is expiring at the end of the season than take the gamble.

I don’t think Texier really holds much value to anyone, he has a lot of skill, but doesn’t seem to know how to use it.

I get the idea of taking a flyer on Dach, but like we’ve done with Perunovich, Montreal should probably continue to ride it out. He’s missed so much time it’s hard to imagine that it just clicks back, but I guess there’s a chance.

Mtl isn't in a position where they need to get rid of space and selling low in a rebuild makes no sense to me. his 3 M contract is not enough of an issue to make this a necessity.

Dach sucks right now but he has shown he can do way more than what he is currently doing. His value is low enough that it cant be much worse, so waiting and seeing here is by far the best options.
