I don't see Ottawa as willing to give up on cheap depth, and I don't see Montreal as willing to let Edmundson go for a return like that - useful players but don't seem to have potential for more than lower lines. (which are important for a team that wants to contend. Montreal ain't there, though)

Pezzetta is essentially worthless and might well end up on waivers at some point.

Value is fine from the Sens side, but I’d rather see them target someone who better fits the needs. So thanks but no thanks.

Well put.

I will say, Sokolov definitely has top 9 potential... but he's very boom bust. As a Sens fan who likes him, I would NOT say he is a lock to be a useful NHLer. If he does stick around, though, he should be a 15-25 goal guy who plays down low on a PP2... he is currently tied for the AHL lead in PP assists & points, and is tied for 15th in goals. The flip side of that? He has 5 ES pts in 21 games. AHL is a heavy PP league, to be fair, but still.

I definitely think he can be an effective PP player in the NHL... he is huge, strong, has good hands, creativity, and a BIG shot. If he can excel or even keep his head above water at ES.... that's another story. His skating has come a very long way, but maybe not far enough, and he still struggles defensively (last I saw, at least)

In Habs speak, his best case scenario is Joel Armia.

So, when you strip away the less important pieces, its Edmundson for Kastellic. Interesting, but Ottawa needs a RD versus a LD and I think they need to aim higher to address their Dman needs as well.

Similar, but I think they have different strengths... Armia skates better and is better defensively but Sokolov has a better offensive IQ and uses his size a bit more. Sokolov is a bit more boom bust imo.

The bigger problem with this is the Habs would probably get about 31 better offers for Edmundson, INCLUDING the actual offer from the Ottawa Senators.

Incoming laugh reacts from Ottawa Senators fans who are keen to show everyone they either haven't been paying attention to the veteran big bodied Top-4 D-Men market or should follow another sport altogether because they don't really understand this one.

This is a pretty ignorant statement overall.

I don't think you're gonna get a run of sens fans in here saying they don't see the value in the deal, nor do I expect you're gonna see a bunch showing up to say a 4th liner and potential 3rd liner outweigh the value of an actual NHL defenseman unless they're a #6/7 or have a stupid cap hit.

I do think you're going to see reasonable responses saying that the value is decent but a left handed defenseman is not a need. And I agree you'd get better offers. Not substantially better, but better nonetheless.

This is not the kind of posts I was targeting.

Yeah I'd pass on this too. Ottawa needs a right handed right defender in my opinion. Can't stand watching guys on their offhand trying to stop pucks from getting out of the o-zone.

Fair statement on the Right handed factor but Eddy has a lots of experience playing both sides. However, Habs are not trading Edmundson for that type of return anyways.

Good luck finding a top 4 right handed shooting D man.

I didn't say any of those things and your conclusion & statements were pretty weird. I said we don't need LDs, we need RDs. I certainly didn't say anything about the trade being fair, nor did I insult a fan base in my post as you have. Anyways, based on the kind of post you just made, its not worth continuing this discussion. Cheers & have a good day.

The only open road.

Your opinion on the topic is also duly noted.

Lol that makes no sense. You basically chose to be douchy and insult a bunch of people...and everyone responded in a reasonable classy way.

There's 2 ways things you can do. 1) Apologize for trying to insult people WHILE being wrong about that insult...and 2) stop saying douchy things like that in the future so you don't look so silly...or you can double down and look even sillier. Im guessing you're gonna go with the look sillier option. It seems fitting.

You were alright until you tried to call out an entire fanbase. 8 classless subbans for you.
