Ideal line-up:

Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield
Demidov - Horvat - Laine
Gallagher - Danault - Anderson

What are the asking price from NYI and LAK?

Is it realistic?

I doubt LA would move Danault without another decent option at 2/3c. We are supposedly contending and were "right there". Id be ok moving him if we upgraded at C (like traded for matthews or something) and Kopitar dropped to 3c but that doesnt seem realistic with the pieces we have.

We are possibly looking for a bit more physicallity in the top 6 , RS. Perhaps a little more dangle from LD and nasty from RD. In all honesty we are most likely moving futures for someone like Josh Andersson, yay.

The only time I've ever seen LA Kings fans even consider moving Danault is if there's another top 9 center coming back the other way in the trade. I guess Dach, or even more likely Newhook would have to be involved.

I'm not so sure Horvat and Barzal will both be traded. Probably one or maybe none, and I think Barzal is the one more likely to be moved. If I was in charge they would both be traded, but hey, I'm not in charge. Tear the whole Islanders team down. Keep Holmstrom and MacLean. Pelech, and Engvall have negative value so keep them also. Maybe keep Tsyplakov and/or Sorokin for one or two years.

I think a big swing Montreal could attempt would be to send Laine, Dach, Matheson and pick(s)/prospect(s) for Horvat and Pulock. Not sure a deal could be made, but worth exploring.

There’s so much to comment on there but keep MacLean???

He was a feel good story 2 seasons ago. He’s proven himself to be an AHL player since then. You can have him for free.

I think he just saw Maclean was a rookie this past season and said yeah that’s good enough. I’m keeping Gatcomb over Maclean.

I guess we speculate on all these names in MON but the one who will be coming over will be Jared McCann, the first to be in those rumors, the one that makes the most sense while being the more underwhelming one.

My (apparently false) understanding was that he was a young NHL-quality forward, even if he was just a 4th liner. So yeah, why not keep him if you enter into a rebuild? Didn't realize he fell off so hard. Wow.

Maclean can be kept since he’s signed for 775k for another season but ultimate he’s not a main piece to anything on this roster. He could be sent down and brought up as needed but he seemed to struggle quite a bit this past season. Forward-wise there’s not many to keep on the roster. It comes down to Horvat, Barzal, Holmstrom, Tsyplakov, Gatcomb, Lee and Pageau. The rest can get moved and replaced with shorter-term/new faces. Lee and Pageau I’d keep until the deadline and move then, especially if they continue production from the previous year since it’ll help increase value.

Yeah, it was almost unbelievable how different he looked from year to year in every facet, including athleticism. maclean was awful, and only NYI's complete total absence of depth centers kept him in the NHL. the only 4th liner NYI had that has an NHL future is Gatcomb. (Cizikas was playing up in the lineup, and imo he should be moved back down to 4C. He can't keep up his energetic play + PK ability at more than 10 ES minutes).

imo I didn't think NYI would break it down if they were drafting 10th or 11th. The lottery luck makes it less likely. If I'm right, NYI won't be moving Horvat.

The better question is, what is Montreal offering, to a team that isn't rebuilding, for one of their top 3 centers, leader, PKer, etc?
There’s been I think 5 threads since April started about Habs fans offers for prices they need to fix the roster. Somehow it all boils down to every teams ask is too much for the Habs and they’re not a win now team yet.

Habs would be doing great to get both these guys. The cost to acquire though might be too much.

Say Vancouver puts their 2025 1st (15th OA) and Wilander on the table, Montreal would have to exceed that at minimum and it would atleast cost the 16th and Hage. It seems like most Habs fans aren’t willing to do that but they will offer a lesser prospect, the same 1st and some low end filler as an offset (mid round pick or prospect aka AHL filler).

No, keep Danault away from this team. Remember when he wanted to play more than KK and especially Suzuki, while having putrid offensive stats ? Then cried to the media after the playoffs ? No thanks.
He was right, KK is a bum.

I'd take Danault back in a heartbeat. His lack of production was magnified by our complete absence of offensive talent on the team when he was here. I can't believe we let him go just so Bergevin could be petty. He'd be a massive cog in our core today.

KK was still a young player that we just drafted #3, Danault was so inept offensively, that he forced the coach to put him on the third line with Lehky and Gally, at the end of the playoffs. Danault was regularly playing with bums like Pacioretty, Radulov(one season), Tatar, Gallagher, Petry, Weber... Our best players, poor him. Letting him go was the right move, we were rebuilding and we had to give developing time to KK and Suzuki.
