Why does Montreal trade their potential 2C just to bring in a solid top 6 center? I am being sarcastic of course. Clear win for Montreal, IMO and I if I was NJ I wouldn't do this. Hage could be a solid 2nd center, but he is a ways off, Reinbacher has had injury set backs so we really can't say if he is a top 2 RHD and also why he is available in this trade. And Newhook is Newhook.

Why does NJ do this? I don't think they are getting overpaid.

This seems to me to be one of those trades that is comparable value, but doesn't meet either team's needs at the moment.

We have one, and a damn good one - top 10 in the league, give or take.

We only need a 2C decent at faceoffs and defense and capable of 50-60 points.

That isn’t going to cost an arm and a leg, and we don’t even need it right now. We can afford to wait a bit.
