I love it as a Habs fan, but that's a terrible job by his agent.

No it isn't. He wanted to stay with Montreal. Surprised there was no trade restrictions though although he can trust the current regime. They presumably promised him he wouldn't be traded and he won't be.

Good to see that Hughes didn't get trigger happy when Evans was hot. 5pts in 25 games in 2025. Still a good pker and solid 4th line center but he is what he is. 2.85m is right around what he's worth. Those 4+ speculations were ridiculous.

2.85 millions is really cheap in a 100M plus salary cap.

Would have easily got 3.5-4.5 in FA.

We are at the point that a 2nd round pick or even a late first wouldn't do much for the rebuild. Another lottery pick and more assets would be nice, but the current core is entering its prime sowe can't wait 3-5 years for drafted players to make an impact

It’s actually Evans that finally accepted to take less and Hughes wanted to keep him at a reasonable contract than trade him for more picks.

Evans could have tested the FA market.
