With a blank in his 1st NHL start against a strong team, I think its most likely that Dobes will be the backup for the rest of the year and we'll not see Primeau as an Habs. Waivers can waive without hostility
What I think is most likely is Habs fans having a knee jerk reaction to a few games by a goalie.
Budaj, Tokarski, Condon, Lindgren, Niemi, Primeau and now Dobes. All were idolatrized by the fanbase and then...
Dobes did great in his first game, but that's one game.
A few posters seem to forget this (or simply don't know the rules). They can't, MTL will claim him back.
But never in your worst nightmares did you believe it would be this bad...Montreal will win against Florida with Dobes in the net…
As a Panthers’ fan living in Montréal, I’m not ready for this. It’s gonna be a tough day…
Or Dobes, Volohkhin...
Primeau was already dropped to our 3rd goalie prospect in summer 2023.
Don't forget Quentin Miller either. Anyways I was so disappointed in Primeau that I woulda put in Connor Hughes instead or even any of our ECHL guys.
Yeah Dobes did pretty good today. Man I always thought of you as a bit of a 'wad but it's cool to know you've turned over a new leaf KPC.
Wonder if that is an unwritten exchange of consideration. Like MTL receive the Flyers 2017 7th for their choice of MTLs next three 7th rounders.Funny trade tree with Cayden Primeau:
Acquired from the Flyers as a 7th round draft pick in 2017 for a 7th draft pick in 2018.
Re-acquired that 7th-rounder from the Flyers for a 7th round pick in 2019.
Re-acquired that 7th-rouder from the Flyers for a 7th round pick in 2020.
Flyers traded that 7th-rounder plus another 7th round pick in 2020 to acquire a 5th round pick in 2020 from Nashville.
Exactly none of those goalies were idolized. They may have been appreciated for the job they did in the role they had, but that’s it. Like when Tucker came in after Price’s injury against the Rangers in the conference finals, no one went and bought a jersey. No one was saying he was a bona fide number one. He played above his head for a spell when he was needed, and he was appreciated for it. Maybe you need to consult a dictionary and reference the definition of ‘idolized’.What I think is most likely is Habs fans having a knee jerk reaction to a few games by a goalie.

Someone must take a shot, It cost absolutly nothing to test the former best Habs prospect for some people

I assume you weren't on HF much between 2012 and 2022.
What on earth are you talking about?
Is that the same as idolized though ?They all got overhyped and then vilified.

Exactly.
Fans appreciated Peter "Flanders" Budaj because he was a great backup due to his disposition, but that was the extent of it.
Neimi, Condon, and the other riffraff were never even overrated. Only Lindgren, who was once touted as a serious prospect who might develop into a starting goaltender (which he did, but not with us) to replace Price was highly touted.
Claiming idolization is disconnected from history and reality.
