You don't trade players like Pelletier for players about to turn 30. Would be awful cap and resource management.

So this Pelletier is going to be a super star? Otherwise it's very likely a Toffoli like player is around his ceiling. Mystery box value and all that.

The mystery box has massive value in the cap world. Pelletier is already playing at ppg in the AHL. If you actually just think it's a mystery box then substitute Pelletier for a different mystery box, that's actually realistic, because this trade isn't.

Maybe for the first step to be a contender. But i think Flames need to add 2 or 3 players to be a real contender. Flames will evaluate if they want to make a run at it this year...

Are you seriously saying Toffoli's value is to go from an early 2nd to a mid/late 1st?

To step for toffoli imo. If you want the 1st it's a lower end prospect and a cap dump going back

That's more reasonable. Would actually think about it, although Philips is not very interesting from an NHL perspective. Would be great for the AHL team though.

On your picture they say that Cooleman is a 3rd liner and Toffoli a 2nd liner. So in your mind... 3rd liner have bigger value than 2nd liner. Because your comparison offer, MTL pick is so much better than CGY pick.

Coleman would probably play 1st line in Montreal. He's a more impactful player overall than Toffoli. It's why he was traded for a 2nd round pick compared to 2 1sts for Coleman.

A younger Tyler Toffoli was already traded and on a more attractive contract. He brought back a 2nd and a 4th, not two 1st round picks.
