Montreal
To Columbus:
Joel Armia $3.4M (3 more years)
Nick Abruzzese
Toronto's 5th 2023
Tampa Bay's 4th 2022 (from MTL)

To Toronto:
Max Domi $5.3M (UFA) -- 50% retained by CBUS, 50% retained by MTL

To Montreal:
Toronto's 3rd in 2023
William Villeneuve

Montreal clears long term salary, CBUS gets something for UFA Domi, and Toronto gets better for the playoffs + obvious Domi connection.

Montreal can absorb Ritchie's contract if this still doesn't work for Toronto's cap

CBJ gives up: Max Domi, $2.65m in cap space (retention on Domi)
CBJ gets: Joel Armia, Nick Abruzzese, TML 5th 2023, TBL 4th 2022

TML gives up: William Villeneuve, Nick Abruzzese, TML 3rd 2023, TML 5th 2023
TML gets: Max Domi (quarter cap hit)

MTL gives up: Joel Armia, TBL 4th 2022, $1.325m in cap space (retention on Domi)
MTL gets: TML 3rd 2023, William Villeneuve

I'm honestly having trouble seeing the benefit for any of the teams involved...

Toronto upgrades their forward depth and doesn't have to give up any high picks or top prospects to do it, that's the benefit to them.

Why on earth would Toronto want Domi?

Every team wins

-Toronto improves without giving up a ton.
-Montreal clears cap and gets a pick/prospect
-CBUS gets some pieces for a UFA who will leave

Because he's not a good or consistent player, and is on his 3rd team already at the age of 26. If any GM had half a brain, they'd stay FAR away from that guy.

For the amount of talent he has if that's the price someone will take him, especially with 75% retained

Habs give up a 4th, Armia Retain 50 % on Domi and we do all this for a 3rd round pick.
Forget to ad we get a prospect who will probably never see a game in the NHL
How can the Habs decline?

I don't know those prospects so I'd leave that to Leafs fans to determine.

-Montreal clears cap and gets a pick/prospect
Is that actually an objective for the Habs? Clearing cap, that is?

-CBUS gets some pieces for a UFA who will leave
Pieces that we don't need and don't help. IF we trade Domi at the deadline, it's going to be primarily for futures, not for a twentieth winger.

Do you think Armia has any value? You get rid of a cap dump worth 3.4 millions for 3 years after this and get paid for it and still complain

I think CBJ says no, TOR says hell yes, and MTL only does it if they need the roster/cap space.

Would Domi not return a 2nd+prospect kind of thing? He's a decent player.

Why in the world would Columbus retain salary and give up Domi so they can be burdened for 3 more years with a 28 year old 4th liner that is in a steep decline (1 goal) and makes $3.4 million per year, two garbage picks and a prospect I had to Google. I don't think the Jackets get a king's ransom for Domi but this horrible. A 4th liner making $3.4 mil for 3 more years is not "something " it would actively make them worse for 3 years. We have players to resign.

Armia can play 3rd line, your finnish GM will like him, he was great in our playoff run last year.

For UFA Domi you get two picks, a solid prospect from TOR (he's way underrated) and a solid roster player signed medium term. Why would you complain?
