I assumed this was a deal meant to take place after the lottery, myself.OP should have said protected (or after the lottery) in the proposal though, just to avoid the unnecessary responses.

That's the only way otherwise there can't be any trade because logically, it can't be pushed into the future where the Habs rise in the standings. Or it can be 6-8 1st OR a 1st and a 3rd if it's 9-15 OR a 1st and a 2nd if it's 16th and up. Something that protects Buffalo if it's done well before draft day. Given our center situation, that would be in the miracle range.I assumed this was a deal meant to take place after the lottery, myself.
usually having both fan bases not like the trade because each thinks they're giving up too much, means the value is about right.Habs: JJ Peterka
Sabres: Arber Xhekaj + 2024 1st
Buffalo has a surplus of top 6 forwards (Savoie, Benson, Quinn, Skinner, Tuch) - they deal from that position.
Montreal has a log jam on D (Reinbacher, Guhle, Hutson, Matheson, Barron, Engstrom, Struble, Mailloux) and deal from that position.
Buffalo acquires a mean, solid D in Arber Xhekaj + the Habs 2024 1st (projected 6-9th overall)
Montreal acquires a goal-scoring top 6 winger ready to plug and play on the 2nd line next to Kirby Dach next year
No…..usually having both fan bases not like the trade because each thinks they're giving up too much, means the value is about right.
But, not sure why Buffallo wants to give up Peterka. They're stacked at LD and our pick after the Monahan trade could be anywhere from 3rd to 12th after the Monahan trade. It's very risky on both sides.
No...No…..
Montreal doesn’t want to give up their1st and thry overvalue their spare parts.
in a re-draft Peterka easily goes in the top 15.
He is but if we draft a Dickinson Habs improve.look let’s speak the truth….Arbor Xhekaj is a unicorn in todays game, he skates well, has a good first pass, has offensive upside and at just 22 years old 6’4” 240 he’s a right handed menace in the d-zone.
However, the NHL doesn’t want the truth because deep down in places they don't talk about at parties, they want Xhekaj on that D wall, they need him on that wall.
lol, cheers
He is but if we draft a Dickinson Habs improve.
Would Sabres trade Peterka for Wifi?
And yet here we are with ANOTHER proposal for X.
X is a fan favorite and we don't want to see him traded unless it's a substantial overpay. It doesn't matter to us if he develops to a top 4 or bottom 6, we still like the toughness he brings.
Moving along....
No. The Habs wouldn’t !!He is but if we draft a Dickinson Habs improve.

I'd rather have JJP than pretty much any pick except no.1 this draft isn't like last year.No one is giving a top 10 pick for Peterka. That is egregious.
Consider the thread starter is a Hab fan, this isn't coming from Buffalo.
Peterka is proven top 6 player at 22....what is enticing about 2 assets that have proved nothing really?Who cares who started the thread....it is a dumb proposal that is lopsided in Buffalo's favour.
We overloaded on D though. While short on goal scoring forwardNo. The Habs wouldn’t !!
nothing against Peterka, I like him just not at that cost.
look the Habs are building a dynamic D core with a vast array of skill's…Xhekaj, Guhle, Hutson, Reinbacher, Mailloux, Barron, Struble, Harris, Kova …..(in no particular order) all young & most, knocking at the door. Their forward core hasn’t been healthy since the rebuild began and needs to improve, the Monahan picks will be used to improve F’s With a big splash during the offseason.
Some rebuilding teams get a 3-5 year head start by drafting “no brainer’s” like McDavid others like the Habs have to do it the old fashioned way, by losing, lol. These three years have been difficult but lots of positives.
Cheers
Exactly. Top 15. Not top 5.No…..

That’s a hot take considering the names on the board.I'd rather have JJP than pretty much any pick except no.1 this draft isn't like last year.
Exactly. Top 6. When you draft top 5 you’re not expecting a top 6 player but a top line player. There’s level to this thing is Peterka is just not on the level of a top 5 player.Peterka is proven top 6 player at 22....what is enticing about 2 assets that have proved nothing really?
haha he is like the D version of Josh Anderson hahaHaven't you heard he's somewhat of a Unicorn? or a Pegasus or something
I would if you're talking Jake Sanderson but Ottawa would be beyond stupid to do soWould Sabres move him for Sanderson?

If it was a straight up, one for one trade, this is an easy win for one particular team. Montreal's management would be idiots for not making the trade.No. The Habs wouldn’t !!
nothing against Peterka, I like him just not at that cost.

wow, where have the Habs heard that one before, lol. You're not getting Sabres first for Savard
Savard isn't worth a top ten pickwow, where have the Habs heard that one before, lol.
