I think the Bruins view Zacha as part of the group going forward because of his positional and role flexibility and his contract.

Trading our 1st for a real player is a MUCH better idea than feeling sorry for other teams having their prospects bust and offering them our 1sts so they can try again "for the sake of fairness", like we did with Newhook and Dach... However it feels like a shameless rip-off, I wonder if Boston can get better than the 16th. Doubt they get a top 10 pick and 11-16+ are all pretty much the same thing especially this draft. I think they can get a 1st + 2nd which I'd be down to give them, we need to build the team for Demidov's ELC not 5 years from now when we have 10M less room. Can we fool them into taking Laine for free? Or are we stuck with him(Thank god for that 2026 2nd am I right!)

I don't see Boston doing it. Zacha has averaged to a 55pt player the last 3 seasons while Newhook have averaged out to a 33pt player. Add in that Newhook is below average in the dot while Zacha is above average in the dot and I just don't see it for Boston. The 1st rounder is mid-pack and likely 2-3 years away. Roy is interesting though

Zacha is a good player. Complementary but very useful.

LOL he put up 47pts this season and didn't even play the entire season with Pastrnak. The last a few months they had Pastrnak playing with Lindholm & Geekie. Over his last 3 seasons Zacha has averages out to a 55pt center, that's good in the dot and plays in all-situations.

Okay so he played 3/4 of the season with a 100+ pts superstar and he still couldn’t crack 50? What do you think will happen when you put him with 45-50 points player?

I mean I’m not sure Newhook is positive value. I’d rather just pay a scrub 775k for his production.

I think the 2C bit is debatable, but MTL needs more of a 1B than a classic 2C. Not trying to bash Suzuki at all, love him, but don’t see him outright winning the C battle against most contenders either, so you would want a strong strong 2C.

Well if Newhook has no value he doesn’t need to be added then. He’s got value to Montreal.

Zacha’s value is probably a first round pick. I just don’t think he’s what we need. He’s not a 2C. He may have gotten 57 and 59 points but that’s with Pasta, Marchand and PP1 time. He ain’t getting that in Montreal.

He’d be lucky to get ~40 points in Montreal and that is not enough for what we need and for the value going the other way.

I was so hard for Newhook when rumors were swirling the Bruins might trade Rask to Colorado back in the day. I'm glad I'm not a GM.

I have those moments all the time. I was pretty high on Newhook early.
