To Montréal: Pavel Zacha

Vs

To Boston : Kirby Dach and 3rd round pick 2026

Montreal fix a need for the 2nd Line and I know Zacha doesnt have a good season but at 4.5 he's a cheap option plus only 27 year old.

Boston give Zacha's contrat and add Dach who can rebound in a new team with less pressure. I think Boston need pick for the future rebuild.

---------

To Montreal : Jacob Trouba@40% retained

Vs

To Nashville: Jayden Struble, Christian Dvorak (cap dump) and 3rd round pick 2027

Habs need to fix the vets presence and the defense on the right side plus Trouba can give top four minutes.

Rangers give Trouba's contract without giving asset. They add a young d-men in Struble and Dvorak for one year plus a mid draft pick

I'd probably do it as a Bruins fan. Zacha is the more known commodity, typically good for around 20 goals and 50 points (this year, notwithstanding where the entire team has been a mess offensively).
Dach has never cracked 40 points but he's young enough (24 in January) that there's still a chance he has a higher ceiling than Zacha if he can stay healthy. Saving $1.4M on the cap this year and next + the draft pick are added bonuses for Boston.

I wouldn't give up anything for Trouba. Take on his contract most I would do.

Struble a good young player. Can play either side effectively. You don't want to give him away.

That would be a hard no for me from Montreal.

The Trouba conversation basically starts and ends at Josh Anderson + Justin Barron for me. Actually it probably starts and ends with him refusing to waive his NTC for Montreal, but nonetheless.

Also not interested in giving up on Dach yet, last year he looked like the team's best forward in camp and early season and that injury is a killer to come back from so willing to give him some extended grace period

1. this would depend on if trouba would waive to MON
he has a list

2. If that is not a prob, then it becomes what is best offer?

Answer depends on cap retained/not retained plus assets offered.

He is available now b'c we have Mancini blocked
your bid is as welcome as any other

As a habs fan. I'd take trouba at full price. But send u Barron instead of struble
Barron is a good fit and if you take Trouba at full pop, that would cover most of it, unless there is better offer
there could be one, but full no retention, I can't imagine one night and day better

you may have to add a bit but we can talk
good job

sorry but warts and all Trouba still fetches something, even at full pop
so like a 7th for him likely not enuf
would be open to adding a prospect F if Struble can be involved, but it is not a big whoop

like I said, best offer and it seems some MON fans are willing to add at least Baron
I may not like guy is no longer premium highest end D some yrs later but he is not negative value

Again am flexible if you want to keep Strube

What is Nashville giving up for Trouba?
to avoid issue w/mods for hijacking, I would suggest open a new thread, either trouba to preds specifically or trouba [generally]

there's a time to quibble, and a time not to.
ok, you can beat me for a 4th
BUT looks like we have no 4ths the next 3 drafts
so it would have to be next available 4th

deal?
Trouba full pop + 4th

Barron

How generous of you Bernie. Even with a surplus of young D, i'm not doing it. We can get a young F project or another pick for Barron. We don't need another overpriced vet Dman.
We're already moving savard and maybe Matheson
