You'll be very disappointed with the actual trade that happens if that's your way of evaluating a package.
Which of those three pieces should the Coyotes covet? "Value" doesn't exist in a vacuum. What would the 2013 Bruins have given up to rent a prime Bobby Orr at the deadline? Multiple firsts. Maybe three or four, no BS, Bobby Orr, greatest player ever. What would the 2015 Sabres have given up to rent a prime Bobby Orr at the deadline? Nothing. They were trying to tank. Apart from selling a few tickets, adding Bobby Orr would have been actively counterproductive and would have dragged them away from Jack Eichel.
Plekanec, Fucale and a 2nd is one completely useless part and two middling ones. That's not going to be the high bid on Martin Hanzal.
Please tell us what Hanzal would realistically cost. Keep in mind he is a rental with a bit of an injury history.
An absolute stud prospect and a 2nd ... or a good prospect and a 1st.
The Hawks paid a 1st and Klas Dahlbeck to rent Antoine Vermette.
The Hawks paid a 1st and Marko Dano to rent Andrew Ladd.
The Stars paid Jyrkki Jokipakka, Brett Pollock and a 1st or 2nd (conditional) to rent Kris Russell.
I think Hanzal is better than any of these three, but that's arguable. Hanzal's $3.1m salary, prorated and with max retention, means he essentially comes free.
The "injury risk" is negligible, because you're renting Hanzal for two months, not marrying yourself to him for 5 years.
