DoPS got it right. Misconduct and Aggressor were over the top because Pare decided to turtle.
Sure, hopefully someone jumps Suzuki or Caufield and start pounding them even when they turtle.. pay the fine afterwards!

DOPS shouldn't be using deservometer and just focus on incidents.

The whole point of DoPS is to take everything in totality outside of the moment of the game. The Refs did what they thought they needed to, to get a handle on the game. But to be objective about the situation and realize why Xhekaj even went after Pare, is what DoPS is supposed to be doing.

Jackeye is a tough strong dude.
There’s no denying it. I’m at the point where I’m frigen happy we got some sorta rivalry brewing. I’d love for the Habs to give our soft core, some team building

Frigen sucks about Laine. This was money well spent. we can both agree “who’s pare”

It’s really quite simple. If Pare did the noble thing and just agreed to fight for what he did to Laine then all is fine. Instead he chose to run from it and got hit in the back of the head. Man up next time and move on.

Why? He drew a 7 minute penalty and knocked 2 players out of the game. There was zero price to pay for him or the Leafs for that matter.

Will x man up against Reaves? No waiting for Reaves to be at the end of his shift either. Man up at a facevoff and square off.
Will x do that? Likely not.
It’s one thing to be tough and it’s another to be truly tough. X needs to show he’s the latter.
do you really think Xhekaj is scared of Reaves? You talk like if he's the next Probert or Macintyre. Xhekaj have dropped the gloves againt anyone who challenged him. He will drop it againt big mouth/no action without much hesitation.

Typical dumb Leaf fan not watching his own team play. Xhekaj and Reaves already "fought" and it just ended with Reaves getting manhandled

No he won’t. When challenged at a face off , x will not fight Reaves. He’s not scared. He just knows he will get fed gusts if he takes on Reaves in that situation. X needs to take on Reaves, to not get embarrassed, at the end of a Reaves’ shift so he can get him tired and from behind. He’s not stupid.

Imposing fines isn’t discipline? What?

How does your outcome based system assess concussions? Do we wait to see how long it lasts? Do we go back 20 years later because someone has long term CTE and then we fine them more? There are certain actions that have a higher probability of serious injury. It's the same reason the rules changed around hits to the head. If the UFC doesn't even allow punches to the back of the head, it's irresponsible for the NHL to not establish more of a deterrent to these types of plays. There should have been at least a 1 game suspension. Even if it's a preseason game, it establishes an understanding that it's a dangerous action.

He would but also doesn’t need to because Xhekaj is a hockey player and Reaves is a pylon

Leafs are likely happy though because he will be playing in the season opener. He sucks and Reaves is gonna chase him around all game. Have fun.
Reaves plays 3 minutes and Wifi would just kick his ass again. No big deal.

My god, get off the Reaves kool aid. He's not Mike Tyson. The guy got beat 3x by f***ing Bollig. Xhekaj will face the music a drop when challenged like he have alway done before. In fact, Reaves is the one who acted like ghost when they faced after his poor showing in there first fight, not the other way around.

Well done Reaves is just a pylon (we 100% agree on that point) then X should have no trouble squaring up with him. It’s only a pylon, right? A guy who can’t move. Should be an easy fight for a real player like X, no?

Xhekaj just got tuned up by Jeannot, he doesn't do well with large players, he tries to wrestle quickly (like the first Reaves fight).

I wouldn't call the first fight a poor showing by either player, Xhekaj grabbed him from behind (there is a pattern here), they both could barely get ahold of each other, lost balance, and got pushed in the net.

Lol there wasn’t one punch thrown in that wrestling match. Reaves fell over the net. Regardless like I said the leafs will be happy Arber plays, he’s terrible.

Genuinely curious... what tough guy has he beaten badly?

The most lopsided fight I've seen of his is him getting beat by Jeannot (who Reaves just destroyed).

He would but also doesn’t need to because Xhekaj is a hockey player and Reaves is a pylon

He's a #6D and part time AHLer...

He would be ecstatic to have Reaves' career.

Reaves will likely end up with close to 1000 games.

It’s a preseason game, who cares about taking players out with penalties?

I don’t think he owed the Habs a fight, but at the same time he could have at least dropped the gloves once his entire line came to his defense. Turtling and then skating around the scene with his gloves on was as non-code as what Xhekaj did, and might well force this thing to spill into the regular season.

I keep asking this and no one seems to want to answer.

Should Reinbacher have to fight Reaves for shoving Minten into the boards from behind?

If he doesn't want to, should Reaves throw him to the ice and punch him in the back of the head?

Normally someone from that person's weight class tries to fight them...

He deserved some supplemental discipline, that looked bad for the sport. At least he kept his gloves (less risk of injury) on, but still bad.
Lol. League honestly needs more of it. The fans like it. Matt rempe came out of nowhere to become the most popular player with the single highest social media impressions because, well, despite what the very online crowd would like to say, fans like violence and dont really care that much about the figure skating version of the sport

He have beat Jeannot (in their 1st fight) and Olivier and Lowry. All of them are big boy. Xhekaj is not the next Probert either, but he can definitely hang with Reaves just fine.

Went from "kick his ass" to "hang with him just fine", glad you came to your sense.

In all the fights you listed, he also didn't "kick their ass".

He's just a big boy, not a good fighter.

He tries to outmuscle people, and when it doesn't work, he loses.
