Dmen with merely bottom pairing upside are of no interest to the Habs. Rather have a pick or a forward with similar value to Welinski. Who do you have?

I’d rather just grab a guy like Del Zotto for a push for a playoff spot he fills a need at LD with mobility and offensive style. I get that he is a UFA but really anything else we trade Hudon for is eventually probably not going to make an impact in the NHL. Get something that can contribute now for him IMO. There is no future sight with the pick you could get for Hudon.

Del Zotto is terrible, you could get a lot more for Hudon than a guy who will probably be playing in Europe next season.

Just there is a thread Bergevin put out there that he is looking for a pick for Hudon. Supposedly no biters.

I like earlier this week a Scandella for Hudon deal straight up. Just get a body on the left side who can possibly play and put up 10-15pts down the stretch in the right system.

We have enough bodies on the left side. They just aren't quality bodies and Scandellas and Welinskis and MDZs of the world aren't going to change that.

Anaheim has a ton of young wingers to sort through, so I don't know why they'd be after Hudon at all either. He really does nothing for us, would rather get a pick or someone to help the Gulls.

I could see Welinksi being moved to audition for a contract elsewhere (UFA at season's end). He has good AHL numbers over the last two seasons, a fairly well rounded skill set and a RH shot - but I get the sense the Ducks just aren't that high on him for whatever reason.

Makes sense, but I think it gives him a bit more attraction in general to other teams looking for a bottom pair RHD.

Yeah because a player has never benefitted from a change of scenery. The whole "Anaheim is having a bad year and therefore all their players are garbage" argument is so lazy and juvenile. If you don't know the player enough to actually analyze his worth than you're wasting your time posting about him. Also I didn't even suggest there was a fit.

Bad proposal for both teams.

Hudon won't change anything for Anaheim, and Welinski is useless on the Habs.

Hudon will probably be traded for a pick, that's all I hope we get back.

Very clever. But we have enough wingers as it is, and our stock of RHD is getting low. Would rather keep the defenseman instead adding another winger who wouldn’t make this roster full time.

I get that. I dont even think Hudon alone gets him. He is that bad this year. Has zero defensive awareness. My point being MTL already has way too many of these type of D’s
