LOL I'm comparing raw numbers because I figured that is YOUR argument, Landeskog brings more of what doesn't show up on the scoreboard than Pacioretty.

How about this for 'context'? How about you compare the seasons both those teams have had during those time periods and see who comes up on top? Which team had the best PowerPlay??? How many of those points did MaxPac get on that MTL PP vs 5-on-5?? (I'm certainly not going to go through all that to try an convince ONE person who, by all accounts, has got big giant homer goggles on but I'd be pretty surprised if it was Landeskog who came up with the favourable stats in any of those categories, since the Avs had had 1 playoff series since he entered the league - so according to all that, MaxPac has had the more ideal circumstances to actually produce vs Landeskog [most people actually realize this without having the need to explain it])

According to YOU...Pacioretty is the better player but that certainly doesn't make it fact. 95% of ALL fans in this thread agree that Landeskog > MaxPac but feel free to keep going because after all, only YOUR opinion matters apparently. :shakehead

Before doing that silly "shakehead" emoji, at least try to get your numbers right. 43 different people commented on the thread, 26 say the Avs say no, 8 say the Habs say no, and 9 did not offer an opinion on the actual deal. So, that would be 60% of the people think Landeskog is better than Pacioretty and I am not some lone homer out in the woods as at least 7 other people agree with me. By the way, I never said "only my opinion matters", I used raw data and context to explain why the deal does not work from the Habs' POV.

Avs fans and neutral fans are saying "no thank you" on the Avs behalf.

We prefer to keep our captain who is a huge part of the identity of our team. How is MaxPac for your team in that regard?

Context is important, but so is being honest. I am not the only person in the thread who says the Habs would decline, and your "95%" number is a straight up lie, as well. If you want to look at PPP as a comparable, we can use their respective 4th years since it seems the most fair to compare them with:

Landeskog got 5 of his 23 goals on the pp, and had 10 of his 65 points on the pp. The Avs finished 1st in the Central and had a 55-22-8 record.

Pacioretty got 4 of his 33 goals on the pp, and 13 of his 65 points on the pp. The Habs finished 3rd in the Atlantic with a 46-28-8 record.

So, Max got a whopping 3 more pp points than Landeskog. That is probably not what you were hoping for. If you want, we can simply compare their first 5 seasons in the NHL, since you like using raw data out of context or making numbers up. So, I did the research for you (I know, looking at numbers on NHL.com is a bit hard for you, so I did it to keep you honest since you have trouble with percentages):

Landeskog had 23 pp goals out of 100 total (23%) and 55 ppp of his 246 total points (22%) in his first 5 seasons.

Pacioretty had 16 pp goals out of 68 total (23%) and 39 ppp out of his 153 total points (25%) in his first 5 seasons.

It would seem that neither is particularly getting a huge benefit from the powerplay, something you thought was going to be so much more in Pacioretty's favour. Max has not had the more favourable context, offensively speaking, than Landeskog, using the context you hoped would skew the numbers in your favour. Keep in mind, those percentages are actually accurate, not made up like your "95%" BS...;)

Neither would any Hab fan in their right mind.

I think both fan bases can justifiably refuse the deal based on team needs. I understand Avs fans wanting to keep the younger player with tons of potential who might eventually become better than Pacioretty. I understand Habs fans wanting to keep the primary goal scoring threat on their team at an incredible cap hit. I only joined the thread when I saw some people making it seem like this was a horribly lopsided offer in Montreal's favour. It is not. In fact, due to what Tyutin and Emelin bring to the table, it swings towards the Avs as a whole deal. I understand wanting to keep the guys you know and love, though, when looking at team needs. As I keep saying: context is key.

Pacioretty is not on the trade block. Why would Montreal trade a 30+ goal scorer with a $4.5M cap hit (3 years left)?

Anyone think Bergevin might have been there to look at Dallas?

because empty netters and the annual playoff houdini impersonations kind of lets the air out of the tires ?

Ghetto was waived, emelin ( although be brings something) can be moved provided we have someone who can play defense as well as he does ( which is not very hard) and landeskog is younger AND in my opinion a better player NOW than casperetty.

Casperetty's stock is on the decline, no amount of empty net goals or cursing into a hot mike is gonna change that. Worst captain in habs History is a hard stench to shake.

No way colorado does this.

So we all agree Landy is more valuable than MaxPac by too wide a margin; and instead the trade is likely to be Iginla+McCleod for Radulov, right? Good.

I see you have been working the phones with MB; what's the going rate for negative value Emelin these days? You think he is moveable with that contract? :help:

Not the most sensible move but wondering if this is even... Further to this, Bergevin was at the Dallas/Colorado game last night and the COL and MTL have been rumored to be in talks for a long time.

MTL trades - Pacioretty + Andrighetto + Emelin = 9.25 cap hit

COL trades - Landeskog + McLeod +Tyutin = 8.9 cap hit

One way trade... last year and this year, Pacioretty played like a guy that has not heart

Avs say NO!!!!

LOL...so you went through page by page to see if my 95% estimation was actually accurate??? (I didn't even go back to check...only estimated as I was reading) Yet I'm A LIAR??? Sounds a bit intense...for posting my opinion but sure I'll give it to you, I'm purposefully trying to deceive you. I so desperately want to convince you that Landeskog is better than Pacioretty even though deep down, I know it's not true. That way, if I'm successful, I'll have won the internet??

It's kind of funny that you don't even realize that you're proving my point with your stats:

IF what makes Pacioretty better than Landeskog is what he does best and that's goalscoring and putting up points and Landeskog is actually able to keep up with MaxPac's totals + play a power forward's game + do it on a team that's made the playoffs only ONCE in those 5 years in the league (as opposed to MaxPac only missing ONCE) then you should have your answer. You know, the one that is obvious to 60% of the people.

I'm sure you'll come up with a whole other set of stats and go ahead and waste your time if you want to but just know that I don't care.

Habs fans rejecting this are nuts or huge homers

nope, pacs just had one of his best games. Emelin is a rock so far. Far too much to give up for Landeskog whos not an upgrade on Pacs for the season. Habs would be stupid to accept this. Taking way too much garbage back.

everybody loves you, so don't let them down

It's gonna take a whole lot more than one game to shake off a that funk. DD score a pair last night, so perhaps we should forget the long stretches of no scoring and the persistend " falldownitis" as well, amirite ?

If you have a fantasy team, 67 might not be a bad pick. if you want the habs to be successful he's a poor ( and in the history of the habs either the worst or second worst) choice of a captain.

He is off course not the best captain. But being captain does not make you the only player able to show leadership on a team. Off course Weber should be the captain. But having Weber added to Price, Shaw and Gallagher, team leadership is now more than respectable and Pacioretty will be more comfortable with that role.

I think we're all missing the big picture here. Roy is bound to be the coach for the Habs sooner rather than later. He had a weird love for Cody McLeod.

Remove the filler from the trade and call it what it is..

Andrighetto for McLeod.
