Not the most sensible move but wondering if this is even... Further to this, Bergevin was at the Dallas/Colorado game last night and the COL and MTL have been rumored to be in talks for a long time.

MTL trades - Pacioretty + Andrighetto + Emelin = 9.25 cap hit

COL trades - Landeskog + McLeod +Tyutin = 8.9 cap hit

When you take out all the fluff, this is really just a cute way to propose that COL and MTL swap Landeskog for Pacioretty which I think is a deal no Avalanche fan in their right mind would agree to.

Avs say no on value alone, but it also puts us alarmingly close to the cap. We need to have enough room to call up Rantanen when he's ready to play.

Ave can't afford to take on any more on the cap, zero zilch. And value wise Landeskog>Pacioretty so once again no thanks.

As a Kings fan who looks for playoff players, I would take Landeskog as an ideal player for us it not Pacioretty. Thus I say no for Avs.

As a Habs fan I'd kill for this but Avs throw the phone out of a 20 story building window.

Pac isn't much better than Landeskog now and is 4 years older. And Pacioretty is way to streaky and doesn't seem to care a lot of the time.

As a Habs fan, I say yes and run away giggling like a kid eating his first ice cream cone.

As a hockey fan, the Avs would be stupid to even consider this.

Def no from the habs. No way we are trading Emelin and Pacs just to get Landeskog. Tyutin would be a disaster in the East playing with a bunch of younger, skilled and fast forwards.

Habs should walk away. Pacioretty is better than Landeskog, Emelin is better than Tyutin. I know that Landeskog is younger and still has a ton of potential, but the Habs should not touch this one. Pacioretty has 4 seasons with 30+ goals and 60+ points on an offensively anemic Montreal team and coaches who believe offence is a 4 letter word. Landeskog has 0, ZERO, 30+ goal seasons and 1, 60 point season. Their ppg averages are close, and Landeskog is a terrific young player who may well get better, he is not finished developing. However, Emelin is much better than Tyutin, and we need the established goal scoring forward more than not.

Landeskog is superior defensively to Patches imo. That certainly weighs into it for me. No doubt Patches is the better goal scorer, but more complete player he is not.

Pacioretty is not on the trade block. Why would Montreal trade a 30+ goal scorer with a $4.5M cap hit (3 years left)?

Anyone think Bergevin might have been there to look at Dallas?

Why would the Avs trade their captain and only top 6 winger?

Think Dallas was the target. Not the Avs.

35-40 goal scorers on absolutely great contracts are worth more than this. Lol at all the replies saying no for the Avs.

They've had ONE 30 goal scorer since 07-08, ONE! They are starved for goals, a guy like Pacioretty which had the unfortunate luck to be centered by Deharnais in the miserable defensive system of Therrien was able to score 30 and more year in year out, with Duchene, Mackinnon etc, he's a 40 goal guy that plays two way, provides leadership and on a bargain contract. Habs would be morons to consider this.

As a Habs fan, I'd do this deal, doubt Colorado would. Not only do they trade their captain (who actually knows how to captain), they take on more salary.
