Why in the world would you pay for alcohol at a game? The searches at MSG don't exist. "Sneak" in a pint of rum or whatever by just like, having it in your pocket, buy a ludicrously overpriced but still cheaper than beer Coke, and you're set for the night.

NA Fans are just boring. It doesn't matter where you are. Montreal is a bit different because they are more in line with the European way of watching sports (although they even pale in comparison).

If the team is winning we just make loud noises and chant the same things over and over. If the team is losing then the place is dead silent. Europeans chant all game long and they make up songs and various other things. We don't even come close.

there is no music or ads playing during the game, so what is the excuse for lack of noise while the play is going on?

i've never once heard anyone complain about the lack of noise during commercial breaks which is when, what you are describing, would apply

As I have already explained, they kill the energy during the breaks. It is hard to keep starting from zero every single time they drop the puck.

After you get shut down a couple of times, you stop getting as involved.

I was just watching some highlights from 1986, and the Garden was a zoo. Loud as hell.

I think the infusion of the wine and cheese crowd is a large reason. Its a win-win for MSG -- these are people who have money in their pockets and it works from a marketing perspective to say they "cleaned up" the profanity and questionable behavior. Nevermind that a guy making $50K a year would have a pretty tough time bringing his family to a game...thats collateral damage.

The first time I went to MSG was in 1989. I probably heard some things I shouldnt have heard as a 7 year old, but walking into the big arena is something Ill never forget. It pains me that families are getting priced out and younger kids are missing out on those types of moments.

The wine and cheese crowd has been sitting in the seats closest to the ice forever. This has not changed very much at all.

The average fan isn't being chased out of the best seats. They are being chased out of what used to be called the cheap seats.
